Blake Lively to star in and produce The Survival List, an action rom-com at Lionsgate

The Survival List is the forthcoming film in the romantic comedy and action genre. Currently in script form, written by Tom Melia, the film has been acquired by Lionsgate. Black Lively is attached to the project as a producer and lead star.

Besides being an actress, Lively has also started backing projects lately. She served as an executive producer of the 2024 romantic drama film It Ends with Us. The film was surrounded by controversy during its release.

Blake Lively is producing The Survival List along with Marc Platt. The spec script has been bought by the studio in which Lively will also star in the lead role. The film revolves around Annie, who is a reality television producer and is quite successful. The channel assigns her to work on a new show that is hosted by someone called Chopper Lane, who is a survival expert. Despite her will, she has to do the assigned task.

During the shoot, they are stranded on an island due to a shipwreck. This makes Annie realize that Chopper is not who he claims to be. Since he doesn't know anything about survival, Annie is forced to find a way out. During this process, they start forming a bond.

The project is being supervised by Scott O'Brien for the studio. Tom Melia, the film's writer, has also penned the comedy film Rye Lane and shows like Brassic and Bloods. Platt has produced films like Wicked as well as the live-action How to Train Your Dragon.

Meanwhile, Lively was recently seen in the black comedy mystery Another Simple Favor, which was a sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor. After its premiere at the South by Southwest Festival in March, the film was released on Amazon Prime Video on May 1, 2025.

Last year, Lively was in the news for her legal battle with actor and director Justin Baldoni, with whom she worked on It Ends with Us.
