Blake Lively and Taylor Swift reportedly 'on good terms', however their friendship 'may not be the same'

Taylor Swift was dragged into Blake Lively's ongoing legal battle with It Ends with Us co-star Justin Baldoni, after Baldoni's lawyers sent subpoenas to Swift and her legal team to obtain text exchanges between Swift and Lively. Lively and Swift's friendship dates back to 2015.

Baldoni's lawyers had subpoenaed Swift to extract information after alleging that Swift tried to pressure Baldoni to accept script rewrites by Lively for the film. However, Swift's legal team objected to the legal order and called it an "unwarranted fishing expedition," after which it was dropped. Amidst Taylor's involvement in the case, it was rumored that Lively and Swift's friendship had been hanging by a thread.

However, a recent source told People exclusively in an article published on June 3 that the two have made progress in their friendship. The source noted that the two friends are working towards being "on good terms," but "their friendship isn't the same as it was before."

The source also added that the two "aren't as close and haven't been spending as much time together as they did in the past." People had previously reported that the pop star and the actress rekindled their friendship in April after the singer distanced herself from Blake Lively.

In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a complaint against her co-star Justin Baldoni, alleging that he s*xually harassed her on the sets of the film. She previously published a detailed article in the New York Times titled; We Can Buy Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.

Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and their PR team. In the lawsuit, he claimed that Blake Lively's long-time friend, Taylor Swift, was present at a meeting in Lively's New York City penthouse, and that Lively tried to intimidate him by using Reynolds and Swift's support for a rewrite of a scene.

Earlier, in a May 2025 letter, Baldoni's lawyer alleged that Lively pressured Swift to publicly side with her and threatened to leak their private texts if Swift did not agree amidst her legal battle against Baldoni. Baldoni's team also subpoenaed Swift as a witness, but the subpoena was dropped after the pop star's legal team objected to the legal order. Earlier in May, Swift's representatives, while speaking to the BBC said that the singer was being dragged into the legal battle to create "tabloid clickbait."
