Boston University issues statement after Alex Cooper accuses former soccer coach of harassment

The prestigious Boston University finally broke its silence and addressed prominent podcaster Alexandra Cooper's, commonly known as Alex Cooper, sexual harassment allegations against Nancy Feldman, who was the former coach of BU's Women's soccer team.

Boston University, a private research university, is located in the capital city of Boston, in Massachusetts, and was founded by a group of Boston Methodists in 1839. The original campus of the university was in Vermont's Newbury.

The nonsectarian university, which reportedly claims that it has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to serious issues like sexual harassment, in a recent statement, said:

"Boston University has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support, and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office."

The statement further added:

"We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all."

People magazine reported on the statement on June 12, 2025.

Boston University released the statement after the host of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Alex Cooper, claimed in her recently released Hulu docuseries, Call Her Alex, that she was sexually harassed by Nancy Feldman while she was studying at the university. Cooper took to Instagram on June 12, 2025, and shared a post in which she further claimed:

"Nancy Feldman was someone I trusted. Someone I believed in. Someone who was supposed to help me grow. Someone who was supposed to protect me. But instead she made my life a living hell and abused her power over me."

She went ahead and added:

"She stripped me of my identity and took away what I had worked my entire life for because she didn’t control herself. This defined my life for a decade and impacted her life 0%. I reported the abuse to the athletic director, Drew Marrochello, and I was turned away and ignored."

Nancy Feldman, who was the Women's soccer coach at Boston University from 1995 to 2022, according to Alex Cooper, sexually harassed her for three years in various ways. The podcaster and her parents, Laurie and Bryan Cooper, claimed that the university's athletics administration did not take proper and serious action even after having knowledge about Feldman's inappropriate behaviours.
