Joe Jonas is opening up about raising two daughters after having grown up with brothers.
The Jonas brothers - Joe (35), Nick (32), and Kevin (37) - sat down for an appearance on Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang, and during the Tuesday, August 5 episode, the three got candid about their bond with each other and parenthood.
At one point, Joe Jonas - who shares daughters Wila, 5, and Delphine, 3 - with ex-wife Sophie Turner, said that raising girls is not what he is familiar with, as someone who had three brothers (he also has a brother named Frankie, who is 24).
“Boys are so different than girls,” Joe said, per People, and added: “I’ll watch my kids on the playground and it’s, like, delicate. And then this kid will be like, ‘Ahh!’ And dive off the top of the slide. And you’re just like, ‘That is a boy.’ ”

During his guest appearance on the podcast, Joe Jonas lauded his “superstar” mother, Denise, for raising four boys.
“Four boys in one home. She was the boss, you know,” he said of her, pointing out how she instilled an “understanding of how to be nice guys to women.” “Growing up, we needed a loud voice like her to be able to control us and also make sure that we weren't, like, pieces of s---,” Joe continued. “I think that was important.”
The singer-actor had also showered praise for his mom in May, during a conversation with Jay Shetty during Jay’s On Purpose Live Tour:
“As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them,” he said. “I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confidence and know that they can do literally anything they want.”
At the time, Joe Jonas also gushed over his then-wife, the Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner. The two got married on 2019 and their divorce was finalized in 2024.
“I have a beautiful coparenting relationship that I'm really grateful for,” he said. “Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true.”
Before their divorce was finalized in September last year, their custody battle over their daughters was highly publicised. Speaking with British Vogue in May 2024, Sophie expressed disdain over the debacle:
"I'm unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children," she said. "They're the victims in all of this. But I think we're doing the best we can. I'm confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that's all that I can ask for."
The two now reportedly maintain a cordial bond as they co-parent their girls.
