A brand-new teaser for Wicked: For Good has been released, weeks before the film premieres in theaters in November. From everything we can gather, Jon M. Chu's musical is back for a wilder, more thrilling ride.

The teaser shows a tense Glinda, as Elphaba's magic comes to a head. There are also glimpses of Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, Madame Morrible, and the foreshadowing of all the chaos that will overtake the Land of Oz. Wicked: For Good will serve as the sequel to the highly successful Wicked from 2024, which established the story. With Chu at the director's seat again and all the cast members returning, Wicked: For Good is set to become one of the year's most thrilling releases.

In an interview with Deadline, the director talked about the film's premise and how it will center the characters of Glinda and Elphaba in a new light. Speaking to the outlet, Chu talked about Elphaba's character and said,

"Elphaba’s a superhero in this one. We wanted to show how powerful she really was..Elphaba’s her own person and Glinda could be too. It’s also the origin story of Glinda the Good,“

He continued to talk about Ariana Grande's Glinda as he added,

"At the end of act one, Glinda doesn’t make the choice. She actually hasn’t changed that much...So this movie had to be about the courage of someone popping their own bubble, a bubble of privilege or their bubble of safety."

Wicked: For Good takes audiences back to Oz, deepening the spell cast by Wicked. Directed by Jon M. Chu, with a screenplay by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, the film adapts the second act of the 2003 stage phenomenon by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman. Like its predecessor, it draws from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, his dark reimagining of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and the 1939 film that defined it.

Cynthia Erivo returns as Elphaba Thropp, the misunderstood green-skinned rebel who has now embraced her identity as the Wicked Witch of the West. Ariana Grande reprises her role as Glinda Upland, the ever-radiant public figure known as Glinda the Good. Their friendship, once forged in idealism, now trembles under the weight of fame, regret, and political control. As Elphaba fights for animal rights while living in hiding, Glinda becomes the face of order under the watchful eyes of the Wizard and Madame Morrible. Their paths collide once more with the unexpected arrival of Dorothy Gale from Kansas, an event that will forever alter the fate of Oz.

Wicked: For Good will release in theaters on November 21, 2025. Wicked is available to stream on Disney+.
