Following her recent DUI sentence, pop icon Britney Spears has broken her silence about her continued "spiritual journey," personal development, and accountability. The singer shared, days after entering a guilty plea and receiving a 12-month probationary sentence. As she claimed that it was a "blessing in disguise", she also stated that she still has "to learn how to be kind" to herself.

Britney Spears opens up about self-reflection and recovery

Britney Spears used the occasion to think about her recent experiences by posting a personal update on Instagram along with a picture of a yellow and white snake. She wrote:

"Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what what a beautiful baby snake this is…"

She continued describing the experience as a "blessing in disguise" and conveyed her appreciation for the people she got to know while recovering:

"Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I'm so d**n thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…"

Spears added that she is working on improving herself:

"I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself…It's a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!"

With Britney Spears concentrating on mental health, recovery, and personal accountability after the court process, her remark indicates a change toward reflection.

Inside Spears' DUI case and sentencing

The update comes after Spears entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge known as "wet reckless," which is applicable in situations involving lower blood alcohol content and no prior history of DUI. Britney Spears was arrested on March 4 after authorities reported she was driving her BMW “erratically at a high rate of speed” on a California freeway.

The 44-year-old's penalty includes a three-month alcohol and drug education program and a 12-month probationary period. In addition, she was fined $721 and has to undergo regular mental health treatment, which includes twice-monthly visits to a psychiatrist and weekly meetings with a psychologist.

The court also mandated that Spears refrain from using non-prescription narcotics and alcohol, and that if she is pulled over by the police, her car may be searched.

Following the hearing, Michael A. Goldstein, her attorney, affirmed that "Miss Spears is doing well," pointing out that she had accepted responsibility for her behaviors and had already started making positive improvements. In a statement, he said:

"Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct."

The statement continued:

"She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney's decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI."

Rehab and moving forward

The "Oops I Did It Again" hitmaker had voluntarily enrolled herself into a rehabilitation center to address her substance abuse and mental health issues after being arrested in March. She spent nearly three weeks in the rehabilitation center before going back home, even though the center had advised a longer stay.

Since then, the singer has mostly avoided the spotlight. She even skipped a recent family event, her niece Maddie's high school graduation, which was attended by her parents, sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and her kids Jayden and Sean Preston, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Despite all the challenges, Britney Spears continues to move forward as she believes in her "spiritual journey," personal development, and accountability as she continues "to learn how to be kind" to herself.
