Bruce Willis can no longer “speak, read or walk”? Viral post explored as actor trends on X

Bruce Willis, who was previously diagnosed with dementia, was recently revealed to have allegedly lost his ability to speak read or walk, but these claims have now proven to be false. Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a condition which, according to Cleveland Clinic affects a person's ability to speak. Earlier in 2022, Bruce Willis was also diagnosed with aphasia and since then his family has been very open about his diagnosis and his gradual failing health.

According to Today, back in December 2024, Demi Moore, to whom the "Mercury Rising" actor was married from 1987 to 2000, revealed that the actor was in a stable condition and said:

"He's in a very stable place at the moment. I've shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely — it's so important for anybody who's dealing with this to really meet them where they're at."

The claims about Bruce Willis' prognosis were first reported on social media. These claims, which were first posted on X (formerly Twitter) came from the account Pop Tingz, who wrote in their tweet that the "Die Hard" actor could allegedly no longer speak or read. They further added that he was even having a difficulty walking. The tweet read:

"According to reports, Bruce Willis can no longer speak or read, and has difficulty walking."

Although soon after the tweet was posted, a community note was also added, debunking the false claims, and noting that the account was known for news based on engagement, whithout verifying the source of the claims. But by this point, thousands of people had aldready shared this particular post, and ones similiar to it, leading to Bruce Willis' name trending on social media.

Emma Heming Willis, who has been married to the "Tears of the Sun" actor since 2009, has an active presence on social media, where she has shared about each aspect of his diagnosis and about her role as a caregiver. During her 2024 interview with Town & Country, she shed light on his condition, saying:

"As his language started changing, it (seemed like it) was just a part of a stutter, it was just Bruce. Never in a million years would I think it would be a form of dementia for someone so young. I say that FTD whispers, it doesn’t shout. It’s hard for me to say, ‘This is where Bruce ended, and this is where his disease started to take over."

The now proven fake news about Bruce Willis' health prognosis lead to several fans showing their sympathies for their beloved actor. This person wrote:

"Please God take all of the pain and suffering Bruce Willis is experiencing and give it to Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and JK Rowling 💔"

Another person said:

"What a horrible disease. I watched my mother go through the gradual changes, the way it destroys your mind and body. This just makes me so so sad. I know first hand how hard this is, and I would never wish it on anyone. I hope his family is doing ok."

Based on the false claims, another user added:

"One of the saddest things in this world to see is the deterioration of a loved one 💔."

This fan wrote:

"I adore this man, I wish nothing but the best for him and his family."

Just a day before the now proven false claims about Bruce Willis' health went viral, Emma Heming Willis had posted a picture with her two daughters while touring the Getty Museum.
