Bruno Mars shared his reaction after the news of Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl 2026 Halftime show emerged. As seen in an Instagram post by Bunny (whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio), his performance is slated for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in California. In a statement shared by the NFL, Bunny said:

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Resharing Bunny’s statement on his X, Bruno Mars wrote:

“Go get em Bad Bunny!”

Roc Nation will be producing the upcoming halftime show, the Jay-Z-founded entertainment company. NBC will broadcast the show. According to The New York Times, this year, Kendrick Lamar performed at the Super Bowl, which drew more than 130 million viewers. Meanwhile, Jay-Z said:

“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

Bad Bunny is a three-time Grammy Award winner. He became the third most-streamed artist on Spotify last year. His latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, was released in January 2025. It secured the second place on the Billboard 200. The album also secured the top position on the US streaming charts.

Bad Bunny talks about his stage name and performing for his audience

In July 2025, Benito was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. As the conversation began, Colbert asked him the meaning of his name, Bad Bunny, and whether it was more than a stage name. The Puerto Rican rapper said:

“Definitely a stage name.”

He went on:

“I think at the very beginning it was more like Bad Bunny was a character.”

Benito explained that he realized the best thing in both life and music was to be himself. He said the two names were the same person, but when he was on stage as Bad Bunny, he felt more confident and powerful. He added that being on stage was special because of the connection he felt with the audience.

Stephen Colbert asked Bunny how it felt to perform in front of such a huge, excited crowd along with other Puerto Rican artists. Benito answered that every show felt different. He said he loved performing all over the world, whether in Latin America, Mexico, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, or the USA, especially for the Latino community and fans everywhere. The rapper said:

“But performing in home with my people, with my Puerto Ricans is always feel different. It's always different, you know. It's like a family reunion, especially these shows, these residency shows feel very like we more united than never, you know? It's something magical to me.”

When asked what a perfect day in Puerto Rico would be for him, he said it would be waking up early, drinking coffee, working out, going to the beach, and enjoying a little bit of rain.
