MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) has continued to expand since its first film in 2008. Josh Brolin had played the role of the antagonist Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, which came out in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Both these films turned out to be critical and commercial successes.

The MCU is now going through another phase with the Russo brothers returning to direct the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. Brolin recently spoke about returning to the world in the MCU. He said,

"I’m sure it’ll be interesting."

Let us find out what Brolin said and if there is a possibility of his return.

Josh Brolin recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and spoke about the possibility of his return to the MCU. The franchise is getting a new lease of life with the two upcoming Avengers films. Brolin, who has played Thanos in the franchise, said:

“I’ve said it, Deadpool 2, I’m glad it was one experience. The Thanos thing, if they called me in London right now and said, ‘Let’s do this,’ I’d be like, ‘I’ll be there tomorrow.’"

He further added,

"Of course, they’re going to come up with something really fun. And I mean, who knows? Who knows? That was a ten-year building kind of thing. That was its own kind of book-ended deal. And I don’t know what they’re going to do, but I’m sure it’ll be interesting."

It's clear that Brolin is willing to portray Thanos again if asked. The character went through its arc and was stopped by Tony Stark at the end of Endgame.

The film met with positive critical response and grossed $2.799 billion. It culminated a storyline that started in 2008 with Iron Man. The film received several nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards, including for Best Visual Effects.

Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to the franchise after nearly seven years with Avengers: Doomsday. The film is slated to be released on December 18, 2026. Its sequel, Secret Wars, will drop on December 17, 2027.

Interestingly, the film will feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. He had played Tony Stark/Iron Man in the previous phase. It will also mark the return of several actors from the earlier films, reprising their superhero roles.

Do you think Brolin will return to the MCU?
