American professional dancer and television host, Cheryl Burke, in an interview for her cover story for US Weekly, opens up about her weight loss journey, detailing how she went from 145 pounds to 109 pounds.
The 41-year-old Cheryl Burke, who gained major prominence after starring as a professional dancer on ABC's dance reality series Dancing with the Stars, exclusively shared with US Weekly her whole experience of losing a significant amount of weight. Burke said:
"I don't weigh myself daily anymore because it was a problem. At my heaviest I was about 150. The last time I checked, I was 109. I feel f***ing great; my energy is on another level. That 109 doesn’t matter, what matters is how I feel."
Cheryl Burke, who is also a professional model, was previously married to Matthew Lawrence, an actor and podcaster, from 2019 to 2022. Burke, while talking about her weight loss journey, made it quite clear that she is no longer trying to lose any more weight. She revealed her day-to-day diet and said:
"I eat licorice I have my morning fruit shake, which is more calories than any of my meals that I’m eating. I have to have my matcha from Peet’s Coffee every morning, and if they have the warm pretzel bread, I’ll get it because it’s just the best thing in the world. I’m very lenient."
Cheryl Burke further discussed her diet and shared that she is currently on an eating plan known as Z.E.N. She gets her fresh food delivered to her doorstep. Burke then mentioned that her daily intake of calories ranges from 1,200 to 1,400. She said:
"The food is delicious and it’s portion control. I have oatmeal with fruit every morning. I have a snack, pita, chips and hummus. Lunch is normally a salad and then I will have my dinner. It’s not diet food, it’s real food."
It has been almost six years now since Burke started her Z.E.N. diet. She also revealed that she used to be an "emotional eater". Burke added:
"I would only eat at night. Now I don’t even remember the last time I had fast food; it’s just not something I’m craving"
While sharing that she so far has no plans to put a pause on her Z.E.N diet, Cheryl Burke noted:
"It's created more balance in my meals. I’ve learned that starving myself, then eating one big meal, doesn’t work for my body. I was also not wanting to eat in front of people — that was a trigger for me. Being called out for being overweight, the last thing you want to do is shove food in your mouth in front of people, especially people who are fit and on the show with you."
Cheryl Burke opens up about her workout regimen

Burke mentioned that since she is not hitting the dancefloor anytime soon, she has decided to stick to her workout regimen. She said:
"I walk my dog a couple miles a day. I have a treadmill where I edit my content because now that I’m a full-time beauty influencer, I actually can only edit content on a treadmill. It’s the craziest."
