Chris Brown, during a recent Manchester concert on June 15, thanked the crowd, following his arrest and release in the UK over an alleged nightclub bottle attack. The rapper was released on a £5 million bail and is due to appear in court on Friday this week. While addressing the crowd, Brown said,
"I just want to tell you all, I love you all to death, I am so thankful that I could come out here tonight. Thank you all for having me and supporting me and thank you to the jail, y'all was really nice."
Brown was charged with inflicting an "unprovoked attack" on producer Abe Diaw in a London Tape nightclub in 2023, as per the BBC. Brown allegedly struck the producer with a tequila bottle several times and punched and kicked the man while he was on the floor. After being released on bail, Brown took to Instagram to post about his world tour saying,
"From the cage to the stage."
As per bail conditions, Chris Brown is allowed to continue with his scheduled world tour, which kicked off on June 8, and has dates in the UK. He was released from HMP Forest Bank on May 21. Chris Brown must also surrender his passport if he is not traveling, live at a specific address known to the contact, and must not make any contact with Mr. Diaw or apply for any international travel documents.
He is also to pay the security with an initial fee of £4 million to secure his release, along with an additional £1 million.
More about Chris Brown's court hearing
Artist Chris Brown appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on May 16, in the north of England. Brown wore Nike tracksuit bottoms and a black T-shirt. According to The Manchester Evening News, Brown's hearing had to be moved to a larger courtroom inside the building due to public interest in the proceedings.
District Judge Joanne Hirst also confirmed that the charges of grievous bodily harm were "too serious" to be heard in the magistrates' court and proceeded to move the case to a crown court. Officials also confirmed that the investigation was being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.
Following the nightclub incident, he was sued by producer Abe Diaw in November 2023. In the lawsuit, Diaw accused Brown of "beating him" and stated that he suffered "crushing blows" to the head, leaving him unconscious.
