Deion Sanders is opening up about the updates in his ongoing health issues.
The Colorado Buffaloes head coach shared a photo of himself and his son, Deion Jr., on Instagram this Saturday as he revealed that he's "coming to a stadium sold out soon." He also thanked his son for supporting him in his journey. The two were reportedly out for a stroll on their Texas estate.
"#Every little step I take My son @deionsandersjr has been there so we’ve decided to keep on stepping! #CoachPrime coming to a stadium sold out soon," he penned.
He had a weighted vest on in the photo, seemingly to help him with his workout, Athlon Sports has reported.
Here's everything we know about Deion Sanders' health journey:
According to Athlon Sports, Deion Sanders has been dealing with ailing health, though details about the same remain scarce. Earlier this month, ESPN issued a cryptic statement about his health, revealing that he is dealing with an “unspecified health issue."
Consequently, the Hall of Famer, lovingly nicknamed "Coach Prime," took a step back from his coaching duties in April. The following month, he spoke to former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel about the same in a podcast:
"I've done no media. I've done nothing for a minute," Sanders said at the time. "So coming on with you is something. I ain't been in front of nobody for a minute. I lost about 14 pounds. I'm coming back, but I needed this."
In a recent post on June 26, he shared another photo in a weighted vest as he promoted an energy drink:
“1 step closer Everyday,” he wrote. “I’m Walking it out! Our Team is working their butts off therefore I’ve got to match that (fire) they have!”
Deion Sanders has been absent from Colorado’s annual youth and high school camps this month, USA Today has reported, despite these camps being a requirement as a coach. This May, he skipped out on former Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter's wedding in Tennessee.
Athlon Sports has also pointed out that Coach Prime was slated to serve as the keynote speaker for The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research (FSCDR) earlier this month. The event was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. However, he could not make it and was instead replaced by NBA icon Earvin "Magic" Johnson.
"Due to an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change, our originally scheduled Foundation Keynote Speaker, Deion Sanders “Coach Prime,” is unable to attend," a statement from the foundation read at the time. "We are grateful for his support and look forward to future opportunities to welcome him."
In a recent YouTube stream, Deion Sanders' son shared a positive update about his father's health, noting that he's “feeling well.” Although he did reveal that it's unclear when he could return to coaching.
“He will tell you all soon enough what he is going through, what he went through,” he reportedly said. “When we get back to Boulder? I don’t know. I am waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”
Deion Sanders has been hit with serious health issues in the past. Back in 2022, he had two of his toes amputated due to major blood clots. The surgery left him recuperating for a substantial amount of time. The following year, he didn't make it to the Pac-12 media day because of the blood clots in his legs, Live Mint has reported.
However, USA Today has reported that Deion Sanders is expected to make an appearance at the Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas, which is slated for July 9.
