Columbus Short’s wife, Aida Abramyan-Short, has been granted a temporary restraining order against him on the grounds of domestic abuse.
The Scandal actor's wife has also been granted sole custody of their two children as she levied accusations of domestic abuse against him. She also shared photos of the alleged injuries she sustained at his hands in a bid to gain a restraining order.
Per The Jasmine Brand, Aida filed the documents in court on Monday, July 7, and she alleged that Columbus attacked her days ago. He was allegedly drunk at the time and choked her while she was doing laundry.
“Don’t slam the f***ing door b*tch. Your mouth is gonna get you in trouble! Shut the f*** up!” she recounted him allegedly yelling at her. “My husband is ch*king me, help!” she yelled, prompting a neighbor to call the cops.
In pictures submitted in her filing, Aida's body was riddled with bruises, scratches, and a black eye. She also accused her former husband of alcohol abuse, noting that he drinks every day and becomes aggressive with her. Furthermore, he has allegedly driven the car while inebriated, with their kids present.
The drama involving Columbus Short explored as both of his wives accused him of domestic abuse:
Aida Abramyan-Short's accusations against Columbus Short come days after the latter filed for a temporary restraining order against her himself. Per TMZ, Short accused his wife of kicking and throwing their 10-week-old puppy and getting violent with him.
He said that he witnessed her abusing the pup, and when he confronted her about it, she hit him several times in the face, causing his eye to burst open and bleed. A neighbour allegedly heard the commotion, with Aida "screaming very loudly as if she was being murdered," and called the cops.
However, when officials showed up, they noticed bruises on him and arrested his wife. Columbus Short also claims that on June 21, when they first brought the pup home, Aida got mad that it had peed inside the house and began kicking it. He said he tried to intervene, but she used a glass trophy to hurt him.
The actor, who left Scandal earlier just last year, also accused his wife of being verbally abusive. He claims she has constantly belittled him and that she has pulled knives on him in the past, in addition to biting him.
He petitioned the court to keep his wife, whom he married in 2016, 100 yards away from him, and their two sons, Denzel and Liam. He also requested that she be removed from their shared home, but that she continue to pay rent.
The actor was previously married to Tuere Tanee Short, though they filed for divorce back in April 2014. At the time, the latter had filed for divorce and a temporary restraining order against him, People reported.
The estranged spouses share a daughter, Ayala, and Tuere was seeking full legal and physical custody of her after citing irreconcilable differences as their reason for divorce. Tuere accused her former husband of being abusive, and in one instance, he allegedly took a knife to her throat as he threatened to murder her and himself.
As reported by TMZ and E! News at the time, Columbus Short forcibly got his then-wife to play “Truth for Truth" with him, where he accused her of philandering and threatened to ax her tires.
At the time, Columbus Short sat down for an interview with Roland Martin on New One Now, where he addressed the allegations surrounding him.
“Don’t believe everything you read," he told Martin.
