Television figure Lizzie Cundy spoke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are keeping their distance from the royal family. She pointed out that the pair skipped this year’s Trooping the Colour event. In a chat with GB News, Cundy reflected on knowing Meghan in the past and shared her thoughts on their decisions after leaving their royal roles.
Trooping the Colour celebrates the monarch’s official birthday and happens every year. King Charles III attended the event on Saturday even while dealing with cancer treatment. His participation showed his dedication to his royal duties despite facing personal health struggles.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not attend the celebrations again, making it the third year in a row they were absent.
Reports suggest they weren’t invited this time. The last time they joined a military parade was during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Back then, they watched the ceremony from a balcony meant for non-working members of the royal family.
Cundy, who met Meghan Markle back in 2013 before her relationship with Prince Harry began, shared her thoughts on the couple’s journey. She expressed her opinion that they missed out on potential opportunities within the royal family. Cundy believes their decision to move to the United States marked a shift that caused them to become more distant from their royal duties.
“They whinge, they moan, they criticize and they are not very grateful. They had it all,” she told GB News. Watching Trooping the Colour today, I get the sense they really missed out. They really blew it,” Cundy said. “The only thing they are good at is spending money.”
She called the couple “complete failures” who “blew it” by missing royal events.
Lizzie Cundy reflects on the end of her friendship with Meghan and highlights royal duties
Lizzie Cundy shared her experience with Markle and mentioned that their friendship stopped after Markle got involved with Prince Harry. She said their conversations ended once the couple’s relationship got serious, hinting that her part in Markle’s life came to a quick halt.
In the interview, Cundy compared the Sussexes with King Charles and brought up the King’s public appearances despite concerns about his health. She called his participation in Trooping the Colour an act of responsibility and togetherness.
Lizzie Cundy also talked about how demanding royal life can be and pointed out the high expectations attached to it. She stressed that being a royal requires strong dedication and regular efforts to serve the public.
After stepping away in 2020, Harry and Meghan started a different life in the United States. They have worked on several media projects and charity efforts. Still, people keep noticing and talking about how they miss major royal events.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s team has not replied to Lizzie Cundy’s remarks. The couple stayed apart from royal duties while the monarchy continued under King Charles III.
