President Trump has broken his silence on handing out a presidential pardon for Diddy.

The president told the New York Times that he received a letter from the disgraced mogul asking for a pardon. However, he said that he won't be entertaining the request. TMZ reported back in November 2025 that Diddy told his fellow inmates at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey that he was expecting the pardon early this year.

Diddy is currently serving a 50-month sentence for his July conviction of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

During his conversation with the New York Times, President Trump revealed that Combs

“asked me for a pardon …through a letter.”

He then denied considering the pardon for the mogul.

Notably, the topic of a presidential pardon first surfaced in October. At the time, Trump proclaimed,

“I call him Puff Daddy. He has asked me for a pardon.”

A few weeks later, a source close to him told Deadline,

“It was always going to be a long shot if he would grant the pardon or not."

An official for the White House also told told The Independent that Trump was never considering pardoning Diddy:

“We would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news," the White House official said. “The President, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations."

In May, Trump was asked about the same again. At the time, he said he was unsure about his decision, but vowed to “look at the facts.

“If I think someone was mistreated, it wouldn’t matter whether they like me or don’t,” Trump said.

He echoed claims that he would not pardon Combs in August during an interview with Newsmax. He said that he was once “very friendly” with Diddy, who eventually became "very hostile" when he ran for office.

“So, I don’t know, it’s more difficult," Trump said of the pardon. "Makes it more — I’m being honest, it makes it more difficult to do."

Trump famously pardoned reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley last year, as well as rapper NBA Youngboy and Death Row Records co-founder Harry O. In his current term, he has issued pardons for over 1,670 people, most of whom were convicted of crimes linked to the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.
