Actor and comedian Rondell Sheridan is responding to allegations that his recent diagnosis of pancreatitis is due to drinking.
After Sheridan opened up about his medical issues and set up a GoFundMe page requesting donations, certain fans took to social media to suggest that the actor’s pancreatitis results from his supposed alcohol-related problems. Distractify noted that a fan posted on social media suggesting the actor does not consume alcohol for his pancreas.
Rondell Sheridan’s spokesperson released a statement via Today to clarify this matter. The statement read:
“In response to some on-line fans who have remarked that they worried this might be drug or alcohol related, this could not be farther from the truth as Rondell shies away from drugs and alcohol”

As per Today, the statement also gave an update on Sheridan, saying that the actor is:
“resting comfortably and is under the care of a fantastic team of doctors who have said that with time, he should make a full recovery.”
Fans who were initially shocked by the news of Rondell Sheridan’s health struggles have been expressing gratitude to the actor for portraying an upstanding TV dad who significantly influenced many fans’ childhoods, while wishing him the best on his social media page. They referred to his beloved role as Raven Symone’s character’s father in That’s So Raven.
Rondell Sheridan on his pancreatitis diagnosis
On May 7, Rondell Sheridan took to his social media pages to inform his fans and well-wishers that he had been struggling with a medical issue. From a hospital bed, Sheridan, who was visibly short of breath, said,
“On April the 10th, I was on the road and got sick. Went to the hospital and they thought it was gastric. I got home on the 12th and immediately went to the hospital at North Ridge and was told it’s pancreatitis, tons of tests…my pancreas is inflamed and there’s not much you can do about it but just wait for the inflammation to go down.”
The actor noted that he has established a GoFundMe page to assist with his medical and daily expenses, as he will be out of work for a while. He said,
“I didn’t realize that I was going to be, and will be, out of work for quite some time. I’m setting up this GoFundMe to help with some of my medical bills and just expenses. If you have anything that you could donate, I’d gladly appreciate it.”
While the goal of his GoFundMe page was $35,000, fans of Sheridan exceeded expectations by donating generously. As of the writing of this article, the total amount raised for Sheridan stands at $75,816.
Sheridan himself took to social media and his GoFundMe page to update fans on his health. The actor, who started in the entertainment industry as a stand-up comedian, wrote,
“Dear friends, First, I'd like to share that your generosity during this difficult time has left me humbled and a surprise to most everyone-speechless. (Yeah, that's a joke.) Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when Isabel created my Gofundme page, but your incredible outpouring of love and support has rocked me to my soul. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Continuing, Sheridan also shared where his medical treatment stands at the moment. He wrote,
“Second, an update on my status: I am currently awaiting a transfer to a higher level of care hospital where a surgical specialist will perform a procedure to relieve pressure in my pancreas. The hope is that this will reduce my discomfort and promote the healing process. While I'm told the road ahead remains lengthy, I remain optimistic that I will, someday, be able to return to full health and get back up on stage.”
Rondell Sheridan thanked his fans for the tremendous outpouring of support.
