Country and gospel singer Randy Travis recently released his new song Where My Heart Is on November 21.
For the uninitiated, the 66-year-old singer suffered a stroke in 2013, following which his speech was affected. Last year, his track Where That Came From was released after it was created using AI. However, the new song isn’t a newly recorded one. It was recorded before the singer had the stroke.
According to Saving Country Music, not much is known about who wrote the new Christmas-themed song or the timeline of its recording. Nevertheless, speaking of the song, his wife, Mary Davis, said:
“It’s a reminder of the blessings of yesteryear and the hope of tomorrow.”
His wife also shared the following message at the time the song came out. Mary said:
“Randy is so excited to announce a song from the vault. It’s a holiday song and it’s called ‘Where My Heart Is.’”
The song was discovered after the couple went through the vaults comprising Randy Travis’s recordings. In an exclusive interview with Fox News, she said:
“It's been a while since he's had a Christmas album. We didn't know where we were going to be as far as farther down the road than we ever expected after the stroke 12 and a half years ago. And Christmas is something that's, well, it's a sweet time of the year for so many.”
Mary said that Randy Travis’s new song perfectly set the mood for the holiday season. After traveling, she said she would like to play music at home and enjoy.
Mary said that Randy Travis was fine with ‘not singing’
Speaking about Randy Travis’s latest Christmas song, Mary said that people could choose to be wherever their heart felt happiest. She explained that this made everyone value life and the time spent with loved ones even more. She added:
“The voice is just so iconic, it's one of a kind. I know that he'd give anything in the world to be able to sing like that again. But the fact that he's OK with not singing just, to me, just makes him more of a mountain of a man, if you will. That he has accepted it for what it is, and he can go back and appreciate the talent that he was given, God-given.”
Mary remembered that spending Christmas with Randy Travis had been a warm experience. Overall, she said it meant a lot to her because it was that time of the year when everyone gets to enjoy with their family and friends. Speaking of the country singer’s fans, she added:
“They've waited for him and they've been kind to do that, so it is a time when you can slow down enough to catch up.”
Despite that, she considered his voice a blessing of the Almighty as she said:
“His voice was for sure God given. And I don't think Randy ever took it for granted because he didn't take anything for granted that I know of. He was full of humility.”
She said that after Randy Travis’s stroke, she understood more clearly that life was a gift and that everything had its moment. She explained that it was important to appreciate the past but also to keep moving forward and continue trying new things.
