Renowned American comedian and television presenter Caryn Elaine Johnson, commonly known as Whoopi Goldberg, is in the news, making headlines.
According to Fox News, Goldberg made a comment in which she suggested that the 2026 Super Bowl attendees, especially white Americans, should use color to darken their skin and learn Latin American accents to check whether ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents target them as illegal immigrants on her popular chat show, The View, which she co-hosts, on October 6, 2025.
Following the 69-year-old Goldberg's recent comment, the internet took the opportunity to react to it and has also shared its opinions. Goldberg, who is also an actress and an author, had a complicated relationship with Hollywood despite being the recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including an Academy Award, a Tony Award, a Grammy, and an Emmy as well.
However, The Color Purple star Goldberg's recent comment comes right ahead of the February 2026 Super Bowl in California, which will be headlined by Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny.
During the October 6 episode of The View, Goldberg, along with her other co-hosts on the show, was discussing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's comments in which she made it clear that ICE agents would be present at the Super Bowl, after the Perro Negro singer, Bad Bunny, declined to perform in the United States. As per the Daily Mail, during their conversation, Whoopi Goldberg jokingly said:
"Everybody, get a little cocoa butter, sit in the sun, that's the first thing. And then - this is probably the only time you can ever do this - give yourself a Latin accent."
Goldberg further added:
"See if she can tell who's who"
While Goldberg's comment is doing the rounds on social media, the internet shared its reactions to what she had to say. A netizen on X (formerly Twitter) regarding Goldberg's comments said:
"Yeah, cuz that worked so well for Ted Danson." a social media user said
