TV Personality D’Andra Simmons, famous for Real Housewives of Dallas, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She revealed the diagnosis in an Instagram post on July 29 through the statement:

"I didn’t think I would be the recipient of care at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center my uncle Harold Simmons and his Foundation established almost 30 years ago, but now I have breast cancer."

Simmons revealed she is the third woman on her mother’s side to have breast cancer. Keeping a strong and positive outlook, she added:

"After today, I will add breast cancer survivor to a long list of life experiences. I look forward to telling my story to inspire others in the future."

On the Instagram stories, Simmons was seen going to the hospital to get her surgery done with her husband, Jeremy Lock. She was also accompanied by her mother.

What breast cancer procedures did D’Andra Simmons undergo?

The procedure, as per her Instagram stories, included seed localization, lymphoscintigraphy to locate the sentinel lymph nodes, and the final surgery.

Talking about how seed localization works, she shared:

"They go in there and they put a marker in my breast where the tumor is. That way, when the surgeon goes in, they’ll know exactly where to take the tumor out."

Her surgery was performed by Debb Farr, a breast cancer oncologist at UTSW (University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center). According to the UT Southwestern Medical Center website, Deborah is a part of various organizations, including:

"American Soscity of Breast Surgeons, The American College of Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the Association of Women Surgeons."

"It takes a lot to watch someone you love go through the thought process and go through it all, but she's doing good. She needs lots of rest now. And hopefully can be a good nurse to her."
