The Jurassic World franchise is moving forward with its exciting fourth installment, Jurassic World: Rebirth, which is slated for release this year in July. The film is set to combine the dynamic action filmmaking of today with the man vs. nature theme that so many of its predecessors have explored. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, Jurassic World: Rebirth will continue to explore and develop the story of what happens when humans and dinosaurs share the same environment in the present day.
Several key factors go into the making of a franchise like Jurassic World. At the center of it, however, is realism. With the use of CGI, mock organisms, and a great deal of graphics, the filmmakers have also incorporated real-life locations and actual animals, blending nature’s beauty with thrilling dinosaur action for authenticity.
Jonathon Bailey, who is leading this project, talked about how the danger felt incredibly real as they were surrounded by wildlife. Talking to Empire, the actor revealed:
"There were really dangerous water snakes swimming past us. So the fear and adrenaline was as real as it could be.”
Koepp then added on and talked about how the film is exploring a different angle this time, as he said:
“We wanted to recapture the idea that we are in the dinosaurs’ environment. The last few movies were exploring the idea of, ‘Hey, what would it be like if they were in our environment?’ They did that very well, and now we wanted to explore how it felt to go back to theirs.”
What is Jurassic World: Rebirth about?

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, dinosaurs now inhabit remote, tropical locations. Zora Bennett, a covert operative, is recruited by a pharmaceutical company to join paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis and team leader Duncan Kincaid on a secret mission. Their goal is to infiltrate a forbidden island, once home to the original Jurassic Park research facility, and locate the three largest surviving prehistoric species. These creatures' DNA holds the key to a groundbreaking drug. Along the way, they encounter a stranded civilian family and discover mutated, failed dinosaur experiments thriving in isolation.
The film features a talented cast including Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, the operative, Mahershal Ali as Duncan Kincaid, a scientist with a mission, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, a geneticist with his own complicated ties to the dinosaurs, and Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Luna Blaise.
Steven Spielberg, the architect of the Jurassic Park franchise, is back as an executive producer and is invested in the film capturing the heart of the franchise while going bold with engaging storytelling. The film promises epic action, stunning visual imagery, and the increasingly familiar struggle of humanity overcoming nature, and seeks to be a turning point in the genre within an already vast fan base of the franchise.
Jurassic World: Rebirth will be in theaters on July 2, 2025.
