Kiernan Shipka is the latest star to join the chaos in Dave Franco’s upcoming comedy The Shitheads. The film already boasts a wild ensemble, including O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Peter Dinklage, and now Shipka is bringing her signature blend of charm and edge to the mix. Directed by Macon Blair, The Shitheads follows the misadventures of Mark, played by Franco and Davis, played by Jackson Jr., who are tasked with transporting a troubled teen, Sheridan, to rehab.
Speaking about Shipka joining the cast, the director of The Shitheads said,
“Kiernan’s one of the best young actors of her generation and we’re delighted to have her join the movie in a pivotal role. It’s a very funny part but in a way she plays conscience of the story, it’s a fun turn for her.”
Shipka, fresh off projects like The Last Showgirl with Pamela Anderson and the holiday action flick Red One with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, joins a production team led by Blair, Franco, and others, with Gramercy Park Media co-producing and financing.
As reported by Deadline, the plot synopsis of The Shitheads reads,
"The Shitheads follows cynical degenerate Mark (Franco) and bumbling idealist Davis (Jackson) as they’ve both hit rock bottom. Paired for a job by a shady transport service, their task seems simple: transport Sheridan, a wealthy troubled teen, to rehab. But Sheridan has other plans and what starts as a simple road trip becomes an unhinged odyssey of drug-fueled disasters, near-death experiences, and criminal encounters. Out of their minds and in way over their heads, Mark and Davis find the courage to face their failures and realize that it’s not the destination that matters, it’s the shitheads you meet along the way."
With Shipka on board, fans can expect a blend of sharp comedy and surprising heart, all brought to life by a cast as chaotic as the road trip itself.
Kiernan Shipka's career before The Shitheads

Kiernan Brennan Shipka has never really known life offscreen. She was on ER when she was five months old and packing up for Los Angeles not long after to chase an acting career that would quickly become inevitable.
Her first big role was as Sally Draper on Mad Men, and it launched her career in Hollywood as one of the finest coming-of-age actresses. But Shipka never settled into one lane.
She played the voice role of Jinora in The Legend of Korra, then starred in The Blackcoat’s Daughter, and later came her most iconic role, as Sabrina Spellman in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She later branched into horror, appearing in The Silence. In 2014, she was named as one of "The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014" by TIME magazine.
2024 alone saw her bouncing from the storm-chasing blockbuster Twisters to the neon glow of The Last Showgirl to the action-packed holiday romp Red One. With a résumé like that, Shipka is sure to be a delightful presence in The Shitheads. While little is known about her role, it’s an exciting addition to an already impressive ensemble.
