Lilo and Stitch actor David H.K. Bell passed away on June 12, 2025, just a month after the film was released. Two months after the actor's demise, reports from the autopsy have revealed and confirmed the cause of death. According to a report from PEOPLE, obtained and issued by the Hawaii Police Department, there are four major diagnoses.
The report stated that David had:
"acute respiratory failure, sepsis, hypertensive/atherosclerotic heart disease, and morbid obesity."
While the emergency team tried to help David H.K. Bell by using defibrillator pads on his chest, an IV access, an airway in his mouth, and an intraosseous needle in his leg when the normal IVs were not working, they could not save him. The report also stated that David was complaining about difficulty in breathing right before he passed.
Additionally, the report also showed that the actor had stasis dermatitis, which is a skin condition caused by poor circulation. He also had edema, which is caused by fluid buildup, making his lower limbs swell. There were no reports of Bell having any evidence of drugs or alcohol in his system.

David H.K. Bell played the role of the 'Big Hawaiian Dude' on Lilo and Stitch. It was based on the animated version of 'Ice Cream Man.' This was the last role Bell played that was released before his passing.
Bell has also appeared in a few television series. This includes the American crime drama TV series, Magnum P.I., and the American police procedural drama, Hawaii Five-0. In the former, David H.K. Bell played the role of Manu Saluni and appeared in two episodes (2018-2019). In Hawaii Five-0, he played the role of Isaac in one episode (2014).
After the autopsy reports were released, a police officer from the Hawaii Police Department told PEOPLE that the investigation into David Hekili Kenui Bell's death is complete. The actor who passed in June was given a funeral service at Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea on August 9, 2025.
