While explaining his preference, David Harbout referenced Seth Rogen's character's love life on the show, The Studio saying:

"They just did an episode where Seth Rogen is the head of a studio and he's dating an oncologist. They got to an event together, and she's like, 'Oh my god, it's so sweet what you do with movies.' He's like, 'Hey, you cure cancer. But once the cancer's cured, people go to the movies and find meaning.'"

He added that there's something "about that ideology with normal people" which he finds intriguing. Harbour dated people in the entertainment industry when he was young, and also married English singer-songwriter Lily Allen:

"I tried to date lawyers and business people in my twenties, but there's something about being a carny freak that normal people don't get."

The source mentioned that Allen would look for women on the app, and cross check their names on Harbour's following list on Instagram, to investigate who he was seeing.
