As per a recent article by Us Weekly, popular American television host and comedian David Letterman recently spoke in support of Jimmy Kimmel after the latter's show was pulled from ABC.

The day after, Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, was indefinitely pulled from ABC David Letterman has expressed his support for Kimmel on September 18, Thursday, at the Atlantic Festival in New York City.

“I have heard from Jimmy. He was nice enough to text me this morning. He’s sitting up in bed taking nourishment. He’s going to be fine.” Letterman said at the festival.

David Letterman supported Kimmel and said that everyone makes mistakes and that Kimmel deserves a chance.

“So what? We all make mistakes. By the way, the condition of the United States of America has not been perfect from the time I was born to this very day, and before that. We know that. The goal is not perfection. Mistakes are going to be made. Hopefully, it will improve.”
“I’m not exactly in full-mind understanding of what Jimmy said, what he was trying to say, and what mistake was made.” David added.

David Letterman further defined this incident with Kimmel as "misery." Before Stephen Colbert's tenure on the CBS program, Letterman headlined The Late Show for ten years. Speaking about the incident and his time doing late-night television, he said:

“In the world of somebody who’s an authoritarian, maybe a dictatorship, sooner or later everyone is going to be touched. But this is me, for 30 years, I did this for a living.”
“I feel bad about this because we all see where this is going, correct? It’s managed media, and it’s no good. It’s silly. It’s ridiculous. You can’t go around firing somebody because you’re fearful or trying to suck up to an authoritarian criminal administration in the Oval Office. That’s just not how this works.” Said David Letterman.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! was removed from ABC's television slate on September 17, Wednesday. Kimmel's team was initially told that the suspension was just going to be for the rest of this week. However, a source told Us Weekly,

"Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be preempted indefinitely.”

For those unaware, in his monologue on Monday, September 15, Kimmel talked about the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. 31-year-old Kirk was fatally shot last week while attending an event in Utah. Fans are speculating that this might be the reason why the show was removed from ABC.
