Dax Shepard recalls how he 'almost came to blows' with Eric Dane at an AA meeting

Employee of the Month actor Dax Shepard, who gained popularity in 2003 after appearing on Ashton Kutcher's prank show, Punk'd, opened up about the time when he almost fought actor Eric Dane. On the June 23, 2025, episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, the Chips star recalled to Brad Pitt, who was the guest of that episode, the time when he was about to fight Eric Dane at an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting.

In the latest episode of Dax Shepard's podcast, Brad Pitt, who is currently promoting his upcoming sports drama film F1, which is set to be released on June 27, 2025, discussed his brand-new movie and also got candid about his acting career, collaborating with critically acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, and his various experiences in the Hollywood industry.

While Pitt talked about a bunch of things, Dax Shepard shared the story of when he 'almost came to blows' with The Last Ship star Eric Dane. Shepard began the story by saying,

"Eric Dane, who I now f*cking love, I have such a sweetness for him."

He continued:

"But when we first were around each other, it was not good. He threatened a dude in the meeting, and I said, 'Let's go, motherf--ker.'"

Shepard went ahead and said:

"He goes, 'If you hit that timer again, I'm gonna f--king throw you in that candle.’"

While laughing at the memory, the Idiocracy actor, Dax Shepard, continued:

"And I go, 'That's it, motherf--ker. Let's go. Stand up, let's go outside.' He stands up, we go outside and I'm about to beat the f*ck out of him — at an AA meeting, where we're coming for healing and understanding."

While neither of them actually fought each other that day, Dax concluded by saying,

"But what's great is, we're friends now and we told that story on the podcast and it's quite a hilarious beginning for us, and now I love him."

Dax referred to an Armchair Podcast episode in which Eric Dane was the guest.

This was not the first time Dax shared this story on his podcast. In June 2024, when the Euphoria star showed up on the Armchair Podcast as one of the guests, he revealed his side of the story. Eric Dane, at the time, said,

"I was not in the best space, let's just say that. I may not have even been sober at the time. So we’re outside and Dax is like, 'What the f--k was that about, man?' And just as I'm about to open my mouth, our sponsor comes out and gets in between the middle of us."
