Denise Richards' estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, is ridiculing his ex-wife's allegations that he was abusive.

Richards, 54, filed a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Phypers, 49, on Wednesday, July 16, before she spoke to People Magazine about the alleged abuse and death threats she experienced at his hands.

However, Phypers has spoken with the outlet about his side of the story:

"I want to address recent rumors and speculation that have surfaced regarding my relationship with my wife, Denise Richards," he said in a statement. "Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone. These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful. Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue.I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect."

He went on,

"I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims."

Denise Richards' allegations of abuse against her estranged husband of six years explored:

Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers filed for divorce on July 7, citing “irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the demise of their 6-year marital union. In her statement to People Magazine, the actress claimed,

"Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages."

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum went on,

“Aaron regularly threatened to 'break my jaw' and would cry, beg me to stay, and promise to get help — none of which ever happened,” she continued, adding that Phypers allegedly “has caused me at least three concussions.”

Denise Richards also claimed that she was “afraid” to come forward and speak up about the alleged abuse because of Phypers

“has repeatedly threatened to kill himself and me if I reported him to the police, among his other threats of harm to me and himself if he is reported for his abuse to anyone.”

She has accused Phypers' father, Steven Phypers, of also verbally abusing her and hurling profanities at her. In her filing for a temporary domestic violence restraining order, she detailed several alleged instances at the hands of her husband, including after she filed for divorce.

When she threatened to call the cops, Phypers would allegedly tell her,

“I would like to see the cops take me away, I will blow everything up if they try.” Furthermore, “throughout our marriage, Aaron threatened to kill me and himself and the police,” and he also “owns at least eight unregistered guns” and "multiple bullet proof vests."

As reported by CNN, Denise Richards has included a photo of herself with a black eye in her filing, which is now going viral. She tied the knot with Phypers in 2018, and they do not share any kids. The court hearing for the restraining order has been scheduled for August 8.

"On July 4, 2025, Aaron repeatedly got within two inches of my face and screamed at me degrading profanities," Richards wrote. "Aaron repeatedly grabbed my left arm tightly. On July 5, 2025, Aaron came into my townhouse with his father and got within inches of my face and began yelling at me … with his right hand violently hit the bill of my hat with the back of his hand, which caused my hat to fly off my head."

She went on, per USA Today,

"Later that day, Aaron chased me and grabbed both of my arms forcefully and pushed me and dragged me to the ground. I landed hard on the stairs causing me immense pain," the filing continues. "Aaron stole my laptop and sent private text messages he had stolen from my laptop without my permission. Aaron threatened that I would 'disappear' if I called the police."

Denise Richards was previously married to actor Charlie Sheen from 2002 to 2007. She shares two kids with him, and another one who is an adopted minor.

She is now petitioning the court to prohibit Phypers from contacting her as well as having him keep away from her workplace and home. She is also asking that he return the electronic devices he allegedly stole, and that he incur all the legal and other expenses caused by the alleged abuse.

People Magazine has reported that Denise Richards has also petitioned for her former husband to undergo a 52-week batterer intervention program.
