Dermot Mulroney says there’s movement—at least on paper—towards a sequel to My Best Friend’s Wedding. In a recent interview with the New York Post, the actor revealed that early talks are happening behind the scenes, mostly among legal teams. No script has been written, and no cast deals have been struck, but the conversation is officially on the table.

Talking to the New York Post, the actor said:

“I know nothing about it. Last I heard, quote, lawyers were talking, unquote.”

Mulroney’s statement mirrors co-star Julia Roberts’ comment in 2023 during Watch What Happens Live, when she was asked which movie she would love to do a follow-up of. She said:

“I think, maybe, My Best Friend’s Wedding. Because there’s so many people in it, and to see what they’re doing and how Kimmy and Michael’s marriage is going. Well, I mean, of course, Jules. But he married Kimmy.”
