Andy Byron, the CEO of Astronomer, was previously alleged to have issued a public apology to his wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, but hours later, the statement was proven to be false. According to US Weekly, Byron was recently seen sharing an intimate moment with coworker Kristin Cabot, who is the Chief People Officer at Astronomer, before the kiss cam panned to them.
In the video circulating on multiple platforms, Byron and Cabot can be seen hiding their faces as the camera zooms in. At this point, Chris Martin can be heard jokingly saying:
"Oh what... either they're having an affair or they're very shy."
This now raised suspicion among viewers, and within hours their identities were revealed, leading to a tsunami of reactions from everyday fans, concertgoers, and even celebrities like Whitney Cummings, Elon Musk, and many more.
More about Andy Byron's alleged public apology to wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, as people react to the news of his alleged affair
The video showing Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot attending the Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts went viral on Thursday. A few hours after their identities were revealed, Andy Byron allegedly issued a statement apologizing to his wife, with whom he shares three children. Despite apologizing, he claimed that the moment on the kiss cam was an invasion of a private moment. It read:
"I want to acknowledge the moment that's been circulating online, and the disappointment it's caused. What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and the team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader."
It further added:
"This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I'm taking time to reflect, to take accountability, and to figure out the next steps , personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process. I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else's life into a spectacle. As a friend once sang: 'Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.'"
The statement was first uploaded by an account @PeterEnisCBS, who has a relatively small following on X (formerly Twitter). However, soon after the now-proven-to-be-false statement was posted, it went viral, with everyone sharing it across their social media accounts.
The viral moment has been a highly discussed topic over the last twenty-four hours. Stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings took a rather cheeky dig at the now-proven false statement previously attributed to Andy Byron. She said:
"Even though being on the Jumbotron usually gives someone the best moment of their lives we must protect the rights of entitled scumbags, their shameless trollops and our many many bracelets”
Another person added:
"Using the lyrics from the band that you saw when you got caught cheating is definitely the most cringe CEO thing to add a personal touch to the situation."
Elon Musk replied to another account posting the statement with a simple laughing emoji, and said:
"😂"
Another account, @Valteena, posted, saying:
"What a douchebag. CEO #AndyByron blaming Coldplay for his irresponsible and disrespectful indiscretion, instead of owning his philandering ways."
Former football player Kyree Oliver said:
"The audacity of Andy Byron is hilarious."
As of now, neither Andy Byron nor Kristin Cabot has released a statement addressing the rumors.
