Did Bari Weiss and Kate McKinnon date? What we know about CBS Editor-in-chief’s relationships

Bari Weiss, who has now been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of CBS, was once reported to have dated Kate McKinnon when both of them were in college. According to NBC News, Bari Weiss is the founder of the online news platform The Free Press. The popular platform was acquired by Paramount Skydance, in an allgeged $150 million deal, as reported by BBC.

Her appointment as the role of Editor-in- Chief of CBS comes at a time when the company has been acquired by David Ellison, who is the son of billionaire Larry Ellison, a well-known Trump supporter. David Ellison released a statement following Bari Weiss's appointment, saying:

I am confident her entrepreneurial drive and editorial vision will invigorate CBS News. This move is part of Paramount’s bigger vision to modernize content and the way it connects — directly and passionately — to audiences around the world."

Bari Weiss began her career at The Wall Street Journal, where she worked as a book review editor from 2013 to 2017. She later joined The New York Times as a journalist before leaving the organization in 2020. In 2021 she launched her own online news platform, The Free Press.

Bari Weiss is currently married to fellow journalist Nellie Bowles, whom she began dating in 2018. According to Distractify, Weiss first met Bowles when both of them were working at The New York Times, before leaving and co-founding The Free Press. In an interview with American Jewish University, the couple divulged how they met, saying that they had first met up for coffee.They dated for a few years and later married in 2021, prior to which Bowles converted to Judaism. They also share two children.

According to Vanity Fair, Weiss dated Kate McKinnon during her time at Columbia University. The former couple were in an on-and-off relationship for a few years and continue to remain friends to this day. In her interview with the outlet, Weiss said she does not want to define her sexuality, having dated both men and women. She added:

"I've been in love with both men and women. I’ve been ghosted by both men and women. But I don’t trade on my sexual identity in that way for political points. I think that’s lame and it’s not my style.”

Weiss was previously married to Jason Kass, an environmental engineer, for three years. Not much is known about their relationship, but the couple were married for three years from 2013 until their divorce in 2016.
