Did Drake Bell just file for divorce from Janet Von Schmeling two years after her initial petition?

Drake Bell has reportedly filed for divorce from Janet Von Schmeling, two years after she did the same.

E! News has reported that the Drake and Josh actor filed for divorce from his estranged spouse, with whom he shares a son, Wyatt, 4, in Seminole County, Florida, on Aug. 14. According to TMZ, Schmeling was the first to do so two years ago in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The pair had been married for four years, and her filing in April 2023, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. She was also reportedly looking to gain primary legal and physical custody of Wyatt, in addition to spousal support.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, a representative for Drake Bell explained the development:

"The process began back in 2023 when his wife filed citing irreconcilable differences," Bell's manager, Juan José Rovirosa, said. "At this stage, both of them are simply concluding that legal process. Their priority remains the safety and wellbeing of their son, and they are doing so from a place of love and respect — closing a beautiful chapter of their lives that now evolves into a different form of love and complicity, always centered on their child’s best interests."

The Daily Mail has reported that in her initial filing, Von Schmeling requested the court to grant Drake Bell visitation rights. She has since reportedly moved on with Jim Perez, and the two are expecting their first child together soon. She announced the news in February, when she shared a sonogram on her Instagram and captioned the post:

'Our Rainbow Baby. September cannot come sooner ❤️.'

For Father's Day this year, she also honored her beau with a video online, where he could be seen hanging out with Wyatt:

'He chose us… In the big ways, in the quiet moments, and all the in-betweens,' her caption read. 'He became the man Wyatt and I didn’t know we needed…And now, we’re counting down the days until our baby girl gets to be with her daddy too. Happy (early) Father’s Day to the man who showed up with love and never looked back.'

As for Drake Bell, just this March, he revealed that he has since moved on himself. In an interview with Parade, he said:

"I have a girlfriend right now, but it’s hard to be in a relationship when you’re on the road so much. But it’s nice. You know, she’s a very, very sweet and awesome girl, but I’ve got a lot on my plate right now.”
