The internet is digging into Jason Lee's history as speculations arise that he is now the co-parent of a boy with his friend, Tiffany Haddish.

The comedic icon recently took to her Instagram to share a photo of her, Lee, and a baby boy. "Cat's out of the bag," she captioned the post, prompting the internet to wonder whose kid that is, and if Lee is co-parenting with her.

Since then, questions about his past run for election have also emerged. For the unversed, in November last year, the podcaster was elected to Stockton, CA.’s City Council. As reported by Vibe at the time, he was named City Councilman, the representative of District 6, following an election marred by controversy.

Jason Lee opens up about why he got into politics, credits Christina Fugazi:

Back in October 2024, a month before he got elected, Jason Lee spoke to BET for an interview, where he opened up about his end goals as a politician:

“It’s very different from being in the media and covering pop culture to being in politics. When I talk on Hollywood Unlocked, people are going to like my opinion or not,” Jason Lee told the outlet. “But when you're in the streets trying to tackle homelessness, trying to make the streets safer for kids, making sure people live in market-rate housing, and have a community that can thrive again, it’s a very different experience.”

The host of the podcast Hollywood Unlocked continued,

"Running for office took me back to my days of working for the union, which I did for 11 years at [the Service Employees International Union]. This is real purposeful work. I'm not saying the work I do at Hollywood Unlocked isn't purpose-driven, but being able to help people in my community where I grew up, where my family still lives, [and] where I've moved back to is where the heart is. It’s my passion."

After he came out on top in the race against the then-incumbent Vice Mayor of Stockton, Kimberley Warmsley, he took to his Instagram to pen his appreciation:

“Deeply honored to have earned the support and trust of my neighbors, the voters of my hometown, and you,” he wrote. “Now I begin the work of creating safer and stronger communities, improving our quality of life and charting our next chapter.”

In his interview with BET, he credited Christina Fugazi, who was running for Mayor of Stockton at the time, for nudging him to get into politics and transform his community. He lauded her for supporting his philanthropic efforts before realizing that there was a lack of personnel involved in changing "the landscape of what the city council looked like because there was so much apathy in the community."

That's when Jason Lee took it upon himself to run for the election and become "the frontrunner to win District Six."

“Christina and I are focused on building a more inclusive, cohesive community, in general, made up of all ethnic groups, business leaders, community leaders, and community partners, so that way we can be more collaborative as a solution,” Lee shared. “That’s not going to happen by doing things in silos that don't end up in a solution that's good for everybody.”

In more recent news, however, the internet is inundated with confusion about the infant in Haddish's hands in her post on Instagram, with many wondering if the pair followed through on their long-running joke that they would co-parent together, as friends.

Jason Lee, who is openly gay, issued a statement just today confirming that the baby is not his and Haddish's. Instead, it is the grandson of his cousin Natasha “Tasha” Brown. The baby's name is Major, and he is six months old, he has revealed.
