Miley Cyrus thinks Beyoncé is as good as music heavyweights Prince and Michael Jackson.
Cyrus, who surprised fans with a performance on the Halo singer's Cowboy Carter Tour in Paris, spoke to Chris Olsnen about what she thinks of the latter. Per People Magazine, the two had performed a live rendition of "II Most Wanted" at the time. Miley Cyrus said of the 35-time Grammy winner, whom she considers a "top tier" artist:
"And getting to see her show live, it feels like a moment of where, you know, you talk to someone about getting to see, you know, Prince or someone that's the best of the best, Michael Jackson," she said on SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio. "I mean, she really is exactly what you'd wanna see on and off the stage."
The songstress also referred to Beyoncé as the epitome of "grace" and "confidence."
"I think that she deserves to kind of have this queen essence surrounding her constantly, just because I do think it's so fluid between both of her worlds and between the persona and personally, it's always been really well integrated" Miley Cyrus added. "It feels like who she is on stage is an elevated, kind of eccentric version of who she is day to day," she said.
Miley Cyrus gets candid about why she might never tour again: Read more
Per BBC News, the former Disney child star opened up just days ago about how she has "no desire" to go on tour for her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, which dropped just weeks ago. She cited the difficulties of maintaining her mental health and sobriety.
Miley Cyrus, 32, last hit the road for a tour a decade ago, in support of her 2014 album Bangerz. Speaking with Good Morning America, the artist said recently:
"I do have the physical ability, and I have the opportunities to tour. I wish I had the desire, but I don't."
She went on:
“I also don’t think there’s an infrastructure that actually supports artists on tour.”
Cyrus also admitted it was
"really hard to maintain sobriety when you're out on the road," which is "a really important pillar of stability in my life. None of what I create would even be possible without the way I think about things, and touring challenges that.”
Miley has long voiced her concerns about the struggles of being on the road for a tour. Back in 2023, she revealed that touring took a toll on her both mentally and emotionally, as reported by The Statesman. In her recent interview, she echoed her grievances by noting:
“It’s really hard to keep mental wellness when you’re constantly touring.”
As reported by the outlet, in a TikTok video, Cyrus opened up about the perils of touring:
“Having every day be about you as the performer and the audience as the observer. It erases my humanity and my connection,” she said. “Without my humanity and my connection, I can’t be a songwriter, and that’s my priority.”
Miley Cyrus also recalled her father's struggles:
“I grew up on a soundstage, in a house with a family who was super close and all lived under the same roof.”
She shared:
“I grew up financially stable and emotionally stable. That’s something my dad didn’t have.”
