One of Hollywood's most iconic actors, Sally Kirkland, has now reportedly entered hospice care amid her struggles with dementia. As per Page Six, a representative of the actress revealed Kirkland even celebrated the Halloween weekend at the facility:
“She continues to receive medical care at a private facility where family and friends joined her on Halloween for a birthday celebration.”
Last November, a GoFundMe page was set up for her, which detailed the actress' recent health struggles:
“This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip. While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections. The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover.”
Kirkland dated Bob Dylan on and off over the course of a couple of decades.
Sally Kirkland and Bob Dylan
Kirkland and Dylan first crossed paths in New York when she was a waitress and a budding model at Andy Warhol's avant-garde theatre group, The Factory. In early 1972, she left her job and moved to Los Angeles in hopes of meeting Dylan. In a 2023 interview with the Daily Mail, Kirkland said,
“I was obsessed, Oh God yeah. He is the reason I am single and is definitely the love of my life.”
She further recalled,
“I fell in love with him the second I saw him perform on stage. I was 22 at the time. I was working as a waitress at Café Figaro in New York.”
However, much to Sally Kirkland's dismay, Dylan wasn't aware of her feelings when they first met in New York in the 1960s. In fact, he was then married to Sara Lownds, his first wife and the mother of his four kids, Jesse, Anna, Samuel, and Jakob.

Speaking about her love for Dylan, she said (sic),
“I believe in life after life. I believe that I have had five lifetimes with Bob. I told Bob this once and he agreed with me.”
Sally Kirkland received accolades for her film Anna, which also earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
She has been in over 200 movies and films, forging a successful Hollywood career.
