On May 10, 2025, Sam Rockwell made a surprise cameo on Saturday Night Live (SNL). On the latest episode, he reunited with his The White Lotus co-star, Walton Goggins, who also hosted the show.

The actors surprised the fans with a pre-taped musical sketch, Tiny Baby Shoe.

In the fun part, Goggins played someone with a pair of small feet. On the other hand, Sam, 56, was seen on the screen as himself.

Before this recent episode, Sam Rockwell hosted Saturday Night Live back in 2018. On January 13, he made his hosting debut and shared the screen with Halsey.

Everything we know about Sam Rockwell's first appearance on SNL

On the inaugural episode of Season 43 of SNL, Rockwell joined the cast for his first appearance. He was seen opening with a monologue on the January 13 sketch titled Science Show.

Sam Rockwell appeared on the show, along with Halsey, as the musical guest. He showcased his dancing and singing talent during his debut.

For his first SNL sketch, he portrayed the character of a host hosting a PBS Kids’ science program, Deadline reported. His interaction with dumb children, played by Cecily Strong and Mikey Day, was hysterical.

The skit revolved around the children answering wrong to easy science questions. While playing an on-screen irritated host, he reacted to the kids, saying,

"You can’t be this f**king stupid."

Soon, he apologized, adding,

"I’m sorry. Kids aren’t stupid."

According to a Deadline report, the skit featured Jane Wickline exploring Central Park Zoo and finding a tiny shoe. Seemed to be inspired by the storyline of Cinderella, she began her part, saying,

"A tiny baby shoe, in the middle of the zoo."

The Saturday episode continued with the comedian adding,

"I can’t keep walking. Can’t pretend I didn’t see it when I did, and it’s changing me inside."

Her on-screen character further continued,

"I just found this tiny baby shoe, put a footprint on my heart I can’t undo. Can’t throw it away. It’s not trash. A piece of my future, a part of your past. Gotta find this baby, that’s what I’ll do."

Just like the iconic story of Cinderella, Jane too kept wandering around the zoo to find the child who lost the shoe. However, she came across babies with either skinny, too fat, too flat, or too long feet until she interacted with Walton.

The Hateful Eight actor said,

"Actually, the shoe belongs to me."

He admitted,

"I’m a fully grown ass man, with tiny baby feet, and I’d really be so grateful if you’d give my shoe back to me."

While they continued to sing and converse, Sam Rockwell entered the scene with a hilarious message.

"I think we’ve all learned a very valuable lesson today today. Cinderella rules aren’t real-life rules."

Jane responded to Sam, enquiring whether he interrupts "conversations with nuggets of wisdom." While Rockwell understood he was not appreciated, the comedian closed the late-night comedy sketch show, singing,

" I guess the lesson here is when you find a baby shoe, and the shoe fits like a glove, you can go about your day but it don’t mean you’re in love."

Many SNL fans were amazed to see Sam Rockwell returning to the show after a few years. They also expressed their reactions on social media.
