The recent lawsuit against rappers Sean "Diddy" Combs and Shawn Corey Carter, aka Jay-Z, which accused them of s*xually exploiting a minor girl "Jane Doe" in 2000, has left the internet dumbfounded. Initially filed in October 2024 against Combs, the lawsuit was refiled on December 8, 2024, after adding Jay-Z as another defendant.

However, while responding to the lawsuit, the hip-hop mogul’s lawyers shared a statement with TMZ, calling it one of the publicity stunts made by Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing Jane Doe. As per the statement,

“This amended complaint and the recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee exposes his barrage of lawsuits against Mr. Combs for what they are: shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.”

The lawyers also mentioned that they were confident in the integrity of the judicial process and the truth would eventually come to light. In the statement to TMZ, they claimed that Diddy never partook in such activities nor was involved in human trafficking, minor or adult.

Besides the hip-hop mogul's lawyers, Jay-Z released a statement through his entertainment company Roc Nation's X (formerly Twitter) page on December 9, 2024. He criticized Tony Buzbee for sending a demand letter, which he perceived as a blackmail attempt.

He rejected any notion of settling and called for a criminal complaint to be filed if the allegations were valid, emphasizing that such crimes against minors deserve real justice.

Jay-Z accused Buzbee of engaging in repeated theatrics, questioning his integrity and credibility while challenging his claim of being a Marine. While concluding his statement, he said he would show how different he was from Buzbee.

Exploring the accusation against Diddy and Jay-Z in detail

In her lawsuit, Jane Doe alleged that she was dropped at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, which was held at Radio City Music Hall. Since she did not have an entry ticket, she asked one of the drivers at the venue to help her get access to the show or the afterparty.

A driver who worked for Diddy invited her to an afterparty. The driver picked her up and took her to a white house where she was made to sign some paper, possibly a non-disclosure agreement, which is common at high-profile parties. Although she did not receive a copy of the same, she entered the party and found celebrities indulging in intoxicants.

Jane Doe had a drink, which made her light-headed, and after that, she went to a room. Jay-Z and Diddy entered the room, and the former allegedly took off her clothes and r*ped her while the latter and another woman sat and watched.

She alleged that Diddy also assaulted her physically, but she protested after he asked her to perform oral s*x on him. Jane Doe hit him in the neck, took her clothes, and left the place. According to the lawsuit, she went to a gas station where she called her father.

As per a statement by Tony Buzbee, Jane Doe has no intention of seeking monetary privileges from the suit, only a confidential mediation.
