“Didn’t feel like that big of a deal” - Liev Schreiber reflects on daughter Kai Schreiber coming out as Trans

As per a recent article by E! News, American actor Liev Schreiber spoke publicly in support of his 16-year-old trans daughter named Kai, whom he shares with Australian actress Naomi Watts.

Liev told Variety in an article published on May 8 that his daughter has been feminine for quite a long time. He further said that for Schreiber, his daughter has always been the same.

“Kai was always who Kai is" Schreiber told Variety. “But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long.”

He further said that Kai is a fighter and he appreciates her confidence and ability to express herself freely.

“Kai is such a fighter. It’s important that she goes, ‘Hey, I am trans,’ and, ‘Look at me.’"

About Kai Schreiber

Kai Schreiber is the first child of accomplished Australian actress Naomi Watts and her ex-husband Liev Schreiber. After being married for 11 years, the actors got divorced in the year 2016. Watts and Schreiber are co-parenting both their children, Kai and Sasha.

Kai was born in the year 2007 and is younger than Sasha. Kai and Sasha both have started stepping into the spotlight.

Kai is about to make her debut as a model by making her debut at the 2025 Valentino show at the Paris Fashion Week. Both Sasha and Kai have shown interest in acting after attending a performance art camp.

In the year 2022, Kai finished her school at St.Luke's School, a private middle school in New York. Watts also posted a photograph of Kia's graduation ceremony in the year 2022. Watts was attending the ceremony with her husband, Billy Crudup, ex-husband Liev Schreiber, and Taylor Neisen, her current wife.

Schrieber told E! News that not all trans youth have the support and appreciation that his daughter has received. Schrieber mentioned that he and his current wife, Taylor Neisen, will support the Ali Forney Center. The organization provides housing support to all LGBTQ+ members.

“This isn’t just about representing the trans community, This is actually a community of people who don’t have great resources, who don’t have access to help, who aren’t being protected and looked after by their families.These are people who are being rejected. These are people who are experiencing the harshest version of humanity that we can offer, and some of them are not surviving it." Schrieber told E!News.

Apart from Kai, other celeb kids have come to the front to express their sexuality.

A few names include Jamie Lee Curtis's daughter, Ruby, who came out as a trans person in October 2021, as per People. Dwayne Wade's daughter Zaya also came out as a trans person when she was 12 years old. Wade shares Zaya with Gabrielle Union, and both of them have been vocal about supporting Zaya.

Cher's son Chaz Bono also admitted that he is a trans person. He came out in the year 2009, a time when the world was not much aware much the rights of the trans community. In a 2020 interview with The Times, Cynthia Nixon shared that she was shocked to hear about her son Sam being a trans person because she never saw any signs.
