Dinner with Audrey is based on the real-life friendship between actress Audrey Hepburn and the costume designer Count Hubert de Givenchy that sustained for around four decades. The film focuses on their 40-year rapport in one single night in Paris.

Abe Sylvia, who has directed some episodes of shows like Dead to Me and Palm Royale, will be helming Dinner with Audrey. The script is written by Kara Holden. Deadline has reported that Thomasin McKenzie will be playing Hepburn, while Ansel Elgort will be playing Givenchy. Meanwhile, Academy Award-nominated actor Michael Shannon is also in talks to join the cast.

Dinner with Audrey is produced by Ashok Amritraj, Priya Amritraj, Andrew Galof, and Andrew Lazar, while Holden is serving as the executive producer. Its production banners include Wayfarer Studios, Mad Chance Productions, and Hyde Park Entertainment. Hyde Park's Carl Clifton is expected to introduce the film to distributors at this year's American Film Market.

Both Hepburn and Givenchy met at a dinner during a Paris fashion event, which kick-started their long friendship. He went on to do her costume in a number of films like How to Steal a Million and Breakfast at Tiffany‘s. She wore his designer outfits in Roman Holiday, for which she won a Best Actress Award at the 1954 Oscars.

Ansel has acted in films like Baby Driver, The Fault in Our Stars, and Jonathan. He was last seen in Steven Spielberg's 2021 film West Side Story. Meanwhile, McKenzie started her career with 2014's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. She has appeared in titles like Jojo Rabbit and Joy. Her upcoming projects include Fackham Hall, The Uprising, and Victoria Psycho.

There has been a documentary film titled Audrey and a television film called The Audrey Hepburn Story that chronicle the late actor's life.
