“Discrimination is discrimination” — Draya Michele responds to critic over 17-year age gap with boyfriend Jalen Green

Actress Draya Michele has reportedly faced criticism due to her 17-year age difference with partner Jalen Green. According to Hot97, the couple recently participated in a relationship quiz by Home Team, where they took turns quizzing each other.

A TikTok user, Boujeebrownskin, shared a clip from the quiz on their social media. Among many claims, he said it was strange because Draya Michele knew Jalen Green was much younger than her but still treated it like a joke. He felt that she was focusing too much on the big age difference between them, and he thought that was weird.

Replying to his claims, Draya Michele left a comment under one of his posts, writing:

“One more thing... this is AGEIST !! No different from being homophobic — you can't be woke about one thing, babe and not the other. Discrimination is discrimination. Imagine if somebody told you couldn't love who you wanted to because they felt like it was ‘wrong.’”

In the quiz, Green asked Draya Michele about what he forgets to pack while travelling, and she replied undergarments, which startled him. He refused to accept the answer and said he forgot to pack his socks, deodorant, or charger, but not underwear. During the quiz, a question was asked about who reached out to the other in the first place, and Jalen Green said he was the one.

The TikToker’s reaction was:

“Wow, what a lovely wholesome conversation between a mother and her son. You said what? They are a couple. A couple of what? They are together, like together in this interview, right? A baby. Is he not the baby? And she 40? And that ladies and gentlemen, is what I assume happens when people that have no idea who either of these people are.”

He claimed whoever asked them to do the interview wanted everyone to see what their real relationship was.

How did the TikToker respond to Draya Michele’s comment?

In another video posted by The Neighborhood Talk, Boujeebrownskin flashed Draya Michele’s comment on the screen and asked if she was serious. He also asked if she had tried to compare ageism to homophobia. The TikToker reacted:

“First of all, there is a word for what you are doing with that young man and it is not ageism. It starts with a ‘P.’ And if you were a man, that is the word that people would use to describe you, sister.”

Boujeebrownskin said that choosing to date someone much younger was not okay, and calling it out wasn’t being unfair about age. He explained that when Draya Michele was 20 years old, the person she was dating was only 3, so she was a grown-up and he was a little kid. He thought her comment about the situation didn’t make sense.

According to HotNewHipHop, the couple has been in a relationship since 2023. They are parents to a daughter, born in May 2024.

The same year, Draya Michele told TMZ that she didn’t understand why people were upset over her relationship with Green. She said it was strange because they were both grown-ups and in love, and she felt that love should be accepted.
