Klay Thompson found himself pulled into an unexpected controversy with Jason Williams, on Wednesday, November 12, after stumbling across comments made about Megan Thee Stallion on the Hoopin’ N Hollerin podcast. Thompson replied to the comments made by Williams on the Hoopin’ N Hollerin instagaram post. Jason Williams had used a crude term to describe the rapper while speaking with Patrick Beverley, and Thompson decided not to let it slide.

“Referring to my GF as a ‘p***y’ is so disgusting and disturbing,” he responded in the comment thread. “Especially from someone who played in the NBA. How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way ? @patbev21.”

He followed with a pointed reminder:

“Do better fellas. Very disappointing.”

Jason Williams comments came during the show’s November 11 episode, where he had floated the idea that Thompson’s relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, could be tied to his on-court slump this season.

“I’m from West Virginia, man, I’ve been taught a lot from old folks, old white folks, it only takes one p**** to drag a battleship across the desert. That’s how powerful it is,” shared Jason Williams.

He added,

“Klay Thompson, I ain’t sayin’ that’s what it is, but that might be what it is.”

As Us Weekly noted, Klay Thompson has been averaging 8.5 points per game through his first 11 appearances of 2025–26, the lowest mark of his career. His three-point percentage sat at 28.9, and he was shooting 32.1 percent from the field overall.

Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion confirmed relationship with joint Gala appearance:

Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion appeared to make their relationship public back in July, when the four-time NBA champion shared an Instagram carousel that included glimpses of the rapper, though he never showed her face directly. Any remaining speculation faded within days as the two attended Megan’s Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala together in New York City.

“Megan is such a special person, and she inspires so many around the world,” Thompson told Us Weekly at the event. “I’ve seen it firsthand. This is just another incredible feat of hers to be able to give back, create foundation and raise a ton of money for those in need. And I’m honored to be here by her side.”

The gala carried emotional weight for Megan, who reflected on her late parents, Joseph Pete III and Holly Thomas, after whom the foundation is named. She told Us Weekly that she believed they would have supported her new relationship.

“I feel like my mom would’ve been like, ‘Wow, you finally picked a nice man, we kissed a lot of frogs, but now we got a real prince! I feel like they would be very proud. My dad would be very happy,” she said.

Thompson said he wished he could have met them, adding,

“I know both of them would be so proud of their only daughter because of what — not only what she’s been able to accomplish, what she’s also going to continue to do. She has never been put in a box, or allowed herself to be in a box, and she just continues to inspire so many people around the world. And, on top of that, raise a ton of money this evening and just do so much for so many in need.”

Podcast segment sparks debate as Jason Williams downplays John Stockton:

While Jason Williams had already sparked headlines for his comments about Megan Thee Stallion, Fadeaway World reported on November 7, 2025, that he also claimed he would have easily beaten John Stockton in a head-to-head matchup.

During a Hoopin’ n Hollerin’ segment ranking the best White non-European NBA players, Patrick Beverley placed Jason Williams above Stockton. Jason Williams backed that up quickly.

“I’d bust John Stockton’s a**, let’s be real,” he said.

Beverley argued Stockton thrived in a favorable system and said he would choose Jason Williams over the Hall of Famer. Jason Williams later added that he believed he would have beaten Jerry West as well, citing his quickness. Williams’ career included a 2006 championship with the Miami Heat, along with averages of 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.2 steals.

Fadeaway World acknowledged his elite ball-handling, Jamal Crawford rated him on his Mt. Rushmore, but noted Stockton’s resume remained far superior. The Jazz legend averaged 13.1 points and 10.5 assists, made 10 All-Star teams and earned 11 All-NBA selections. Jason Williams also said he believed today’s NBA held more overall talent than the era he played in.

“I think, as a whole, the league’s way more talented now than it was back when I played,” he shared.

His influence still stretches into today’s game. As The Sports Rush reported on September 14, 2025, D’Angelo Russell credited Williams’ style for shaping him early in his career.

“I used to be like Jason Williams, flashy like regular pass, behind the back! Regular bounce pass, no look. Nuh uh! Fast break, backboard,” Russell shared.

Russell added that with time he learned when to scale back the flair.

“I was always just talented and flashy. And then I started realizing you can’t do that all the time and that’s when I started finding my own little box,” he explained.

Williams’ bold claims may stir debate, but his influence on today’s players can't be completely ignored.
