Spanish pop star Rosalía ended her silence when designer Miguel Adrover refused to collaborate with her due to her lack of public support for Palestine. In a rare statement, the Spanish pop star addressed the issue. She finally broke her silence and said:

"Do not see how shaming each other is the best way to move forward.”

Miguel Adrover, a famous Mallorcan designer, declined to collaborate with Rosalía due to her silence over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. On July 30, 2025, Adrover posted an Instagram screenshot of an email discussion with Rosaliá's team. The communication indicated that the designer had turned down a proposition to create a personalised look for the musician. The Mallorcan designer's representative had emailed Rosalía's agent:

“Sorry, but Miguel does not work with any artist who does not publicly support Palestine.”

The designer uploaded the screenshot of emails on his Instagram with the caption:

"Doing "The Right Thing"….Silence is complicity, and even more so when you have a big loudspeaker where millions of people listen to you when you sing. That's why you have the responsibility to use this power to denounce this genocide."

He went on to emphasize that his choice was not personal and praised Rosalia's talent, as he added:

"Rosalia, this is nothing personal. I admire you for all your talent and for everything you've achieved. And I think you are much more than those artists who only dedicate themselves to show business and entertainment. Now we have to do "The Right Thing."

He even added a reference to conclude with Rosalía's 2022 album "MOTOMAMI":

Rosalía releases her statement

Rosalía addressed the controversy on June 31, 2025, through her Instagram Stories, where she wrote about the criticisms she faced. She wrote:

"I have followed with great sadness what has been said these days. I already accept that what I will write here will be incomplete and imperfect but it is my truth and it is written with the best intention."

She went on to criticize the violence and deaths of innocent people in the region:

"The fact that I have not used my platform in a way aligned with the style or expectations of others does not mean at all that I do not condemn what is happening in Palestine. It is terrible to see day after day how innocent people are killed and that those who should stop this do not do it."

Rosalía criticised the outcry, arguing that condemning one's own group might be unproductive:

"I don't see how embarrassing each other is the best way to move forward in the fight for Palestine's freedom. I think the pointing should be directed upwards (towards those who decide and have power of action) and not horizontally (between us)."

Rosalía discussed the challenges of handling political concerns as a public figure, stating:

"In a world like today's we all live in constant contradiction, me the first, and although personally I always try to do "the right thing", probably I probably don't always succeed but in the process I try to learn and improve."

She also expressed her support for those actively involved in humanitarian operations, applauding the work of NGOs, journalists, activists, and volunteers in Gaza.

"Unfortunately this text is not and will not be enough in a context of extreme violence like the one that is happening, so l would like to end with a deep respect and gratitude to the people who really act as NGOs, activists, volunteers, health workers, cooperatives, associations and journalists. Dedicating his life to helping in this cause and many others."

This isn't the first time she has spoken about the crisis. She first posted in October of 2023, on her Instagram stories, which he soon ended up deleting as it fueled the criticism that she was hesitant to take a firm stance.
