Bubba Wallace, who drives for Michael Jordan's 23XI racing team, became the first black NASCAR driver in history to win the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. This was a major win for Wallace, who beat Kyle Larson by a mere O.222 seconds to secure the top spot.

While accepting his trophy, he could be seen getting emotional, as he was supported by his wife, Amanda Carter and their young son. In a statement released to TNT Sports, Bubba Wallace, who currently drives the No.23 Toyota in NASCAR, talked about his win, adding how proud he was of his team for helping him secure the top spot. He said:

"I’m wore out. I thought about every which way to Sunday, beside driving the race car, that red flag (late in the race, which resulted in double overtime) and oh my gosh, man. I’m just so proud of this team. That adrenaline rush is crazy ’cause I’m coming off that right now and I’m wore out.”

More about Bubba Wallace and his net worth, as he records a historic win

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Bubba Wallace, who has a net worth of $4 million, was born on 8 October 1993. He previously competed in the NASCAR series with Richard Petty Motorsports, now known as Legacy Motor Club, before moving on to Michael Jordan's team.

According to Forbes, back in August 2020, Bubba Wallace had signed a multi-year contractual deal with Colombia Sportswear, despite previously struggling to land sponsorship deals.

Wallace, who has been with the Michael Jordan team since 2021, was personally congratulated by the basketball legend after his win on Sunday. According to On3 Sports, Michael Jordan, who was unable to attend the race, called him up to congratulate him following his win. Talking about the moment, Bubba Wallace said to TNT Sports in the post-race conference:

"He was just so proud. I said I wish you were here for it, he was like, he’s going to have a drink or two for me tonight. So we’ll be celebrating together in spirit.”

Earlier this year, Bubba Wallace, during his appearance on CBS Mornings, talked about his career since the birth of his son, and highlighted how his priorities in life had changed since then. He also credited his wife, Amanda Carter, to whom he has been married since 2022, for helping him through his career. He said:

"Nothing else matters anymore, besides being a great father, being a great husband, being a great family man. Prior to that, it was always racing first, and I've missed out on a lot of good memories and opportunities by putting that first and causing a lot of stress from within or the people surrounding me ... It took having a kid to realize there's so much more to life."

He further added:

"My wife is the absolute trooper. The six months have been nothing short of craziness for her ... I don't see all that she has to deal with."

He also talked about how, even to this day, he gets nervous before a race, and said:

"The last couple weeks, I've gotten the blues—nervous through practice, qualifying, even in the race. I don't know why, but we finished third the last two weeks. So hopefully, they keep coming, because it's been working."

Bubba Wallace is next set to compete at Iowa Speedway, which takes place next week on 3 August.
