Australian actress Ruby Rose shared her thoughts about Sydney Sweeney’s portrayal of former professional boxer Christy Martin in the new biopic by her name. Sharing her thoughts on Threads on November 11, she suggested that Sweeney “ruined” the biopic. The Australian actress wrote:“The original Christy Martin script was incredible. Life changing. I was attached to play Cherry. Everyone had experience with the core material. Most of us were actually gay. It's part of why I stayed in acting. Losing roles happens all the time.”Her statement went on:“For her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS did it for the 'people'. None of 'the people' want to see someone who hates them, parading around pretending to be us. You're a cretin and you ruined the film. Period. Christy deserved better.”According to Us Weekly, the movie did not perform well at the box office. The film premiered on November 7, grossing just $1.3 million during its opening weekend. As understood from Ruby Rose’s statement, she did not appear in Christy. Sydney Sweeney had previously expressed her thoughts on working in the film and what she expected viewers to see. In a statement to Pink News in late October 2025, she said:“I am so excited for them to see Christy.
