Country icon Dolly Parton has been surrounded by mounting health concerns ever since her husband passed away earlier this year. Now weeks after delaying her Las Vegas residency, Parton skipped the 16th Academy Governors Awards last night, in Hollywood.The Queen of Country, as she is fondly known by her fans, was set to receive an honorary Academy Award for her exceptional career, but eventually acknowledged the accolade virtually. Speaking to the audience in attendance, she said,“We didn't have too much to share, but my mama and daddy showed me that the more you give, the more blessings come your way. And I have been blessed more than I ever dreamed possible, like with this award tonight.”She also added,“From my heart to yours, I truly thank you.”Dolly Parton was one of the four individuals honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, along with Tom Cruise, choreographer Debbie Allen, and production designer Wynn Thomas.Dolly Parton’s Health WoesA few weeks before the Academy Governor's Awards, Dolly Parton had reportedly informed the organising parties about her prospective absence from the ceremony. As reported by USA TODAY, her publicist had ceremoniously informed the organisers of her absence, which wasn't due to a health scare,“We told Governors Awards/Academy in June she could not attend due to a scheduling conflict when they first approached us”A month before the Awards, Parton also took to Instagram to drop out of her Las Vegas residency at the last minute. She wrote,“As many of you know, I've been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. However, it was her sister's reaction that scared her fans. The country rocker released a video, informing fans, “I'm not dying”, after her sister asked the public to pray for the icon. In the video posted on Instagram, Parton had said, in part,“I know lately everybody thinks that I'm sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I'm working hard.”Dolly Parton is now devoting her time to recuperation and is reportedly 'working on all of her projects' from her home in Nashville.
