If you haven't watched Ben Leonberg's Good Boy yet, a brand new clip starring Indy the dog has been released that will surely convince you to sit down for the horror film. The clip shows Indy investigating around the house at night, sensing something sinister, until his human, Todd, shows up. It's an eerie clip, highlighting the film's horror and Indy's widely acclaimed acting skills. The film is currently in theaters, and is also available to watch on Fandango At Home.

Good Boy has been getting much appreciation from fans and critics alike, with particular praise going towards Indy, who is running his own Oscar campaign as well. He recently penned a letter to the Academy members, urging recognition for animals' roles in films, and sending his own role for consideration, citing the glowing reviews the film has gotten.

Part of the letter reads:

“Despite my critically acclaimed role in the recent film ‘Good Boy,’ — I have been deemed ineligible for the Best Actor category. Apparently, I am not a good enough boy for you...How many great performances must go overlooked before the Academy throws us a bone?”

Good Boy marks Ben Leonberg’s feature directorial debut, with a unique idea and a story that has managed to win over the audience. The film is co-written by Leonberg and Alex Cannon, and stars Shane Jensen, Arielle Friedman, Larry Fessenden, and Leonberg’s real-life dog, Indy, in the titular role. Much of the story unfolds through the eyes of Indy, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, as he navigates a haunted rural home and the terrifying events within.

The film had its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 10, 2025, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 3 by Independent Film Company (IFC) and Shudder. Shot on location in Harding Township, New Jersey over an astonishing 400 days, Good Boy runs approximately 72 minutes. Its visual storytelling emphasizes Indy's perspective, often framing scenes at dog-eye level to immerse viewers in his experiences, with Indy performing without the aid of visual effects.

The story follows Todd, a young man with a chronic lung disease, who moves from New York City to his late grandfather’s isolated home in the woods with Indy. Todd’s sister, Vera, worries about him, fearing the house is haunted as it may have contributed to their grandfather’s death. Indy immediately senses a dark presence that manifests in shadows and occasionally appears as a skeletal, mud-covered figure.

Independently produced by Leonberg and Kari Fischer under their company What’s Wrong With Your Dog?, the film is a tense, immersive horror experience that blends supernatural thrills with the heartfelt loyalty of a dog navigating a terrifying world, all captured through an inventive and intimate lens.
