Caleb Williams, quarterback of the Chicago Bears, took a jab at the Green Bay Packers fans at the Fanatics Fest 2025, which sparked a controversy and has also rekindled one of the NFL's most illustrious rivalries. Williams didn't hold back when poking jabs, demonstrating that the Bears and Packers' rivalry is more intense than ever.

Williams was questioned during the event about his least favorite NFL crowd and his worst fan experience to date. He answered right away:

“Probably Green Bay. They suck.”

With a smirk on his face, the 22-year-old quarterback, who is entering his second season with the Bears, remarked, obviously capitalizing on the long-standing rivalry between Green Bay and Chicago.

"After the game, after we won at Lambeau. 1-0 at Lambeau."

Caleb Williams said, reminding the audience that he and the Bears defeated the Packers at Lambeau Field in the season-ending game of 2024.

Williams continued by talking about a now-famous incident from that game in which he tried to take part in the customary Lambeau Leap after the Bears won. He said the gesture was not well received by Packers supporters when he attempted to leap into the stands where Bears fans were gathered. He remarked:

“They start throwing everything at you. They push you off.”

He underlined that the Leap is a significant physical accomplishment as well, saying:

“It’s a real leap. It’s not a little baby jump. You actually have to high jump basically. And then they’re pushing you, pushing your face.”

Not Caleb Williams' first time

Caleb Williams has previously expressed his dislike for Green Bay; even prior to playing in the NFL, he was seen taking part in a chant of “Green Bay sucks” at a Chicago restaurant in Wrigleyville in 2024. Now that he has completed a full season and defeated the Packers, his confidence and rivalry rhetoric appear to be gaining strength.

When Caleb Williams returns to Lambeau Field later this season, Packers supporters are certain to respond angrily. Tensions are already increasing as the Bears prepare to play at Green Bay on Sunday, December 7. Two weeks later, on December 20, the rematch would happen at Soldier Field in Chicago. Since December 16, 2018, the Packers have not suffered an away loss versus the Bears.

Anticipation is already quite high because of the intensity of the 2024 season's encounters, which were both decided by field goals at the final second. The Bears' victory in Week 18 was their first at Lambeau Field since 2015 and ended an 11-game losing run versus Green Bay.

Backing his words up

Caleb Williams is establishing himself as a leader and a fierce competitor who is aware of the psychological impact of the rivalry as the Bears look to make a return to the playoffs under new head coach Ben Johnson.

In his first year as a rookie, his stats are impressive with 3,541 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and 489 rushing yards.

Not only does Caleb Williams have a sporting attitude, but he also possesses the ability to back his words up.
