Fat Joe took to Instagram to celebrate 50 Cent's 50th birthday. The two were once embroiled in a public feud. Joe shared an image of Cent, with the caption,
"Curtis Jackson aka I went to war with him. It's funny how a so-called enemy can become an incredible friend. God bless you my brother 50 more hbd king @50cent."
Cent and Joe's feud began in the early 2000s, with diss tracks and lyrical battles., Fat Joe collaborated with JaRule, who was then feuding with 50 Cent on What's Luv in 2002. As a result, Cent released a song called, Piggy Bank in 2005, for his album, The Massacre. In the track, Cent mocked Joe's feature on New York, and joked about the artist missing his hits,
"That fat nigga thought ‘Lean Back’ was ‘In Da Club"
The two went back and forth and released diss tracks against each other. Their feud took a more serious direction during the 2005 MTV VMAs when Joe, while presenting an award, said,
"“I feel safe tonight with all this police protection courtesy of G‑Unit.”
50 while responding to the comment on live television said,
“Fat Joe’s a pu**y..."
In 2012, Cent approached Joe at the BET Awards tribute for Chris Lighty, and offered him a handshake, putting an end to their beef.
What has 50 Cent said about his feud with Fat Joe
In a July 2024 cover story interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 50 Cent admitted that he "wasted too much time" beefing with Fat Joe,
'Look, I think we wasted too much time arguing, me and Fat Joe, me and Cam'ron. There's other guys like, Jada(kiss), we cleared it up easier. But we wasted time because it was just the competitive nature. It wasn't like we crossed paths and had real heat for each other."
The rapper emphasized that their feud escalated since "he's more like me." He said:
"When we're at odds, we are at odds, and we did that for a long time. And because of his loyalty to Irv (Gotti) and Ja because he worked with them, I was seeing him not be happy from the things that were making me happy."
The rapper also said that there was "no altercation or specific thing that created" and said that he's now a "friend." Cent also clarified that he's not bothered that Joe has "relationships with people that I don't" since "he's always had those relationships."
