Drew Feltwell, the father involved in the 'Phillies Karen' drama during a recent Philadelphia Phillies game, is finally on the record speaking about the incident that took place at LoanDepot Park on September 5. In an interview with NBC 10 Philadelphia, Feltwell spoke on the situation after having some time to reflect.

As it was his son Lincoln’s 10th birthday, the Feltwells attended the Phillies game as a family in what was intended to be a celebration. Drew Feltwell said:

"We’re just trying to make this week about him. I felt like super dad, putting that ball in his glove and giving him a hug."

Feltwell continued to say,

“[I am] still in disbelief that she walked down there like that. Just trying to set an example of how to de-escalate a situation in front of my son. Putting the ball in his glove and then taking it back out killed me.”

Drew Feltwell made a teaching moment out of a situation he handled with poise and grace.

Drew and Lincoln Feltwell’s Phillies game ordeal

The incident happened on September 5 in a game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins, and involved spectators Drew Feltwell, his son Lincoln, and the woman, who has since been dubbed 'Phillies Karen' by social mnedia. The commotion started when newly-acquired Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader hit the ball for a home run and several fans competed to secure the piece of memorabilia.

Eventually, Drew Feltwell came away with the Phillies’ home run ball and proudly handed it to his son, before the proceedings took a turn for the worse. The woman in question, who was also attempting to secure the token, approached Feltwell and his son Lincoln, and tried to grab the ball, seemingly berating them and claiming that the ball was rightfully hers. The incident was captured by cameras.

The woman was heard saying in the captured video,

“You took it from me. You took it from me! That was in my hands.”

Despite her claims, it appears by measure of all the video evidence circulating on social media and television that her allegations were categorically untrue. Shortly afterwards, Drew Feltwell returned the ball to avoid an ugly scene. Ultimately once news of the incident circulated online, the Phillies organization arranged for Lincoln and Drew to meet with Harrison Bader who gave Lincoln his bat as a consolation for the ordeal in the stands.
