David Corenswet talks about being in the Superman costume
In a recent interview with Fandango, David Corenswet revealed how it felt for him to be in the costume on the set of Superman. He said:
"The cape really makes a big difference. It's the unsung hero of the suit. Most of the fittings don't include the cape, and it is literally the last thing to go on before you go on set. It just changes the silhouette, the way it flows behind you. It just adds gravitas. I sort of forgot that I was wearing the suit. I would wear it a lot...but I do remember the first day we did camera tests, coming on and seeing Nick and Rachel for the first time and them seeing me for the first time."
He added:
"I must admit, I felt a little self-conscious. I hadn't gotten used to the suit yet. I hadn't filled the boots with my own sense of confidence. So to have them see me and sort of go like 'oh that looks pretty cool like 'that works pretty well'. That meant a lot."
The film is produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. It will focus on the titular superhero trying to reconcile his alien roots with his adoptive family of humans on Earth. The film is also the first title of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters from the DCU. Its cast members are as follows:
- David Corenswet as Clark Kent aka Superman
- Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane
- Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor
- Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt aka Mister Terrific
- Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason aka Metamorpho
- Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern
- Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl
Gunn started writing the film right after being installed as the co-CEO of DC Studios back in 2022. It was earlier titled Superman: Legacy.
The film will release on July 11, 2025.
