Final Destination 7 was officially announced in August this year. The film will serve as a sequel to Final Destination Bloodlines and the seventh entry in the franchise. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein had directed Bloodlines, which was released on May 16, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It received positive critical feedback and grossed $314.6 million.

Now, there is another update regarding who will helm the forthcoming installment. Stein and Lipovsky will not be returning to the director's chair, as Michiel Blanchart has been roped in to helm the project.

Let's find out more details about the supernatural horror film.

Michiel Blanchart in talks to star in Final Destination 7

Michiel Blanchart, who is a film director from Belgium, is currently in talks to direct Final Destination 7. He started his career by directing several short films, including L'annonce, Lulu, Cul, Dynaman, and You're Dead, Hélène. The last one won awards at several film festivals, like the Brussels International Film Festival, and earned him recognition.

Blanchart made his feature film debut with the action thriller Night Call, known as La nuit se traîne in French. He wrote the film with Gilles Marchand, while Michaël Goldberg and Boris Van Gils produced it. The film focuses on a locksmith who is given a task during the night of a black lives matter protest. It won 14th Magritte Awards, setting a record by becoming the film with the most awards.

Meanwhile, Final Destination 7 is set to be produced by Toby Emmerich, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Dianne McGunigle, and Craig Perry. Warren Zide is the executive producer. Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick, who wrote the previous film, are also returning as writers. Deadline reported that Lipovsky and Stein had declined the offer to direct the seventh installment.

In a May interview with The Direct, Stein spoke about exploring the concept of death in their movie Bloodlines.

"Death's work is never done. There's always more scores to settle. We've spent the last three years putting all our best ideas into this movie. We had such a great time with Jon Watts, Craig, and Sheila, the producers and the writers, brainstorming all the deliciously fun ways to kill people that we could think of. So, we don't have lots of new, fresh ideas for the next chapter right now."

Lipovsky added,

"They could be figured out. Yeah, there are always anxious thoughts that you could prey upon."

No release date for Final Destination 7 has been announced yet.
