Interview With the Vampire is shifting the spotlight in Season 3, and it's roaring to life in the most iconic way. Fans got their first official glimpse of Sam Reid as “rock star Lestat” as Entertainment Weekly dropped fresh images, and the transformation is wild. Gone is the gothic aristocrat; this is Lestat at his most theatrical, rebellious, and musically unleashed.

The third season pivots from Louis’s perspective to Lestat’s own narrative, centered on him reclaiming his story by launching a band and hitting the road in dramatic fashion. Speaking about the new season, Reid told the outlet,

"It's pretty wild, I've got to say. I can't really believe we're doing it. Sometimes I'm like, 'What the hell?!' Lestat has an intention to express his views and his experience through music, music videos, and recordings, and all this kind of stuff. And they are finding a wonderful, cool way to weave that through a lot of the denser parts."

Reid explains that he and composer Daniel Hart developed the music before scripts were delivered, using songs as a gateway into Lestat’s emotional journey, a method that will perfectly capture his theatrical and unreliable nature.

"I've been with him working with him on the songs first. It's been a really interesting way to approach a character, by coming in through the music to start with before we had any scripts. Trying to work out the character's arcs through the songs has been an adventure in itself."

With Season 3 officially confirmed and production underway, this bold new musical direction promises a thrilling evolution of the Anne Rice universe. Expect drama, art, music, and maybe a few stage lights. Interview With the Vampire is about to become a full-blown vampire rock opera.

More details on Interview with the Vampire Season 3

Season 3 of Interview With the Vampire marks a dramatic pivot: Lestat de Lioncourt, played by Sam Reid, finally steps into the spotlight as a globe-trotting rock star, reclaiming his story and rewriting the vampire mythology in his own image. Showrunner Rolin Jones and Reid collaborated closely with composer Daniel Hart, crafting original music before the scripts even landed, each song helping map Lestat’s emotional trajectory across the season.

Joining Reid are familiar faces: Jacob Anderson as Louis, Assad Zaman as Armand, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, and Delainey Hayles as Claudia, all carrying over from previous seasons to anchor this deeper exploration.

Talking about how rock music will be a huge part of the new season, Sam Reid said,

"There's something inherently vampiric about rock music, and that's not really necessarily what is the flavor of the month at the moment in terms of what is desirable in music. Because I think at the end of the day, Lestat is a musician that writes from personal experience."

Aside from everything else, the cast and crew behind Interview with the Vampire hopes that it receives warmth from fans, as the actor added,

"I hope people are happy. You know that some people are never going to be happy, but all we can do is approach it with love and care, which we are. There's a lot of love and care being put into it."

Interview with the Vampire season 3 is slated for release in 2026.
